i've never scene anything official that it is, downsampled, it very well might be, but i use the 1080p 60fps all the time and i've never had anybody say they notice the difference or point it out,

I've heard quite a bit against the HDR PQ, could you maybe elaborate on any downsides it might have? But amazing video, just ordered my r10 and can't wait to use it

Oh nice I would love to hear your thoughts on how you get on with it. I think with the HDR PQ is a preference thing I know a some people don’t like that HDR look, as it can give you that phone look some times. But with the R10 it opens up the post process a lot more, it’s also a lot more forgive for run and gun. and you can really tailor your look a lot more compared to the standard 8-but. Would I use the HDR if the R10 had Canon C-log possibly not. But it doesn’t and actually it’s a brilliant alternative and I personally really like the HDR PQ. But the file sizes are a little bigger, but not dramatic.

You will definitely love your new camera. Im very happy with both the video and photography side of it. As @christianpitcher says.. personal preference will he the key. I also havent played around yet with the hdr setting yet. But will try it out a bit and see how i feel about it. Hooe you enjoy your camera and may you take awesome shots.

Brother, I want to buy a camera for myself, I'm stuck between two cameras, I want good wedding, product and night performance, do you think Canon eos RP or Canon eos R10 would be better?

The RP for photos is actually really good but it’s old now and the DPAF is only on 1080p footage so it come down to what is more important to you. I use the R10 a lot even over the EOS R

Would you say the canon r10 or EOS R would be better for video? I make fitness/gym videos and also general video b-roll. I’m trying to decide between these two cameras.

The EOS R only had two real advantages over the R10, full frame and and CLog. The Over samples 4k for the R10 is really good. Plus you have the option of 4k 60 frames per second (cropped) with the r10 you don’t on the EOS R. plus the 120fps on the EOS R is unusable. I personally prefer the R size, batteries Full frame and I’ve used it for quite a while. But the R10 video and photography quality is just as good if not Better at a cheaper price point new.

Because it looks loads better visually. I’m also not a super precious about my equipment they are tools ect. But a truly clear camera cap would be cool

I haven't been able to get any results with HDRPQ that I liked. I think HDRPQ is best used if you plan to have your final output to be rec2020 and viewed on an HDR TV. I found the conversion to rec709 to be blotchy. Alternatively one could use Prolost Neutral 8bit. I found that the Cinestyle profile is very much like clog1 in dynamic Range getting near 10 stops of dr. ish, but the footage needs to be scrubbed. I would likely shoot in Cinestyle 1080P and use Topaz ai to upscale and de-noise. I think this is the best way to get the most entry level cheap pro video.

Yeah I get what you are saying use what work for you and your creative choices. Cinestyle doesn’t change the dynamic range it simply raises the shadows and the brings down the hightlights creating a log look out of the camera with the 8-bit footage. and you have to colour grade more than just exposing the imagine correctly. Then the imagine can start to fall apart. You can actually just save time and effort and create the Cinestyle look in camera. With the custom picture profiles that every canon has. As for HDR PQ it does have more of its own look but if it’s process correctly it can look better that the standard 8-bit out of the R10 but it does come down to correct exposure and work flow there is a little more to HDR PQ than just blacker blacks or whiter whites. But depending on what you’re editing on, work flow, display, where it’s being up loaded. There are a lot of variable. That’s the best thing about being creatives we use what we like and what works for us. 👊🏻

@@ChristianPitcher I think if the HDR PQ could be successfully converted to rec709 then it would definitely be the best mode to use in this camera. I have been unable to do such conversions with likeable results, mainly disliking the skin tones. I think the number one issue is that HDR is designed for a tv/monitor that is 4 stops brighter meaning you can lose 4 stops of DR in conversion.

What makes a great video is who is filming it. The camera may be professional or not, but whoever is filming makes all the difference. There is no point in having a state-of-the-art camera with the latest technology in the hands of a terrible videographer or photographer.
