It has all these excellent features, but does it have one of the most simple features that has been found on even cheap cameras from other brands for over a decade (that has been missing from most Canon cameras)? That is, can you keep the horizon level on during recording video? It may seem silly, but this one feature will decide whether I purchase one or not. I know it has some self-leveling IBIS thing, but that isn't what I'm asking. I just want to be able to make the camera level myself, because I can see the level on the screen. Any clue if it can do that?

R5c and r7 can have the level on the screen during video shooting. I can’t speak to any other bodies or the new ones.

5:39 you can see the center is a big dark circle, ive seen it on other r5 ii videos. Do we know what that is and has it been fixed?

I also just noticed it in my footage. Turned off the Peripheral Illumination correction and that fixed it for now.

I think its a problem with the Peripheral Illumination in camera. This will be one of those pre-release bugs which will get fixed by launch.

Nice to see Canon finally getting their IBIS system right. Seems like it was a hardware issue afterall and not just an easy firmware fix. Can't wait for it to trickle down into an R6 Mark III !

With the original R5, you could save a certain video setting on the C3 custom mode. This video mode would be used when you press video in the photo mode. Really useful for Hybrid shooting. Is this still possible with te R5 II?

I honestly don’t care much about full size hdmi. I don’t like giant cables coming out the side of the camera. It’s annoying on the fx3 and it’s annoying on the c70. I wish everybody would switch to SDI 😂

@@matt_berg_media True. SDI would be amazing, but that aint gonna happen on most cameras anytime soon. You can buy cheap 90° angled adapters for HDMI, this way the cable does not stick out as much. And i prefer a more robust HDMI over a tiny HDMI connector that breaks and costs me insane amounts of money to get repaired..

Already done in the C400.. You can check it out... The camera is of course still hard to have... But I was able to get my hands on a demo model for an hour.. The AF works very well much better than their previous cine line implementation.

No the r3 can’t do clog2…clog2 is available in post when shooting raw, bit not available when shooting mp4. R5ii can shoot in clog2 even in mp4

Canon major fail. The R1 has a 2.1 mp lcd screen as opposed to the R3s 4.1 mp lcd screen. What???

My R6 has ~1.6 mp and it looks great. I have never once wished I had more LCD MPs. I've had my hands on the R5 and R3 and felt the same way. We are talking about a roughly 3 inch LCD screens. You can continue to go up in resolution but it wont really do much beyond being some numbers on the spec sheet. They are cramming the almost the same number of pixels of a 1980x1080 monitor onto that tiny 3 inch display of the R1. 2.1mp sounds like a very appropriate number to me.

Yeah that doesn't make sense. The screen is so crisp and colorful on my R3. The best rear screen I have used for sure. The "flagship" should have the same or better rear screen
