This may be a bit of a stretch, but when Lucas was in talks with Sony to develop digital Cinema cameras in the late 90s-00s his priority was a true 24fps and it came off as if it were some major technical milestone. Makes sense as digital refresh rates tend to be in increments of 30. Is it possible that with all of the background processing the camera is doing that processing at 24fps might consume more power than 30fps? Genuine question.

@@fromquake I don’t get how that would be. Isn’t possible in HD or 4K. It’s an artificial limit to sell more of the new batteries.

@@fromquake , it MUST consume some more power to process 25% more frames per second. It would be best for an engineer, or electronics technician, to dynamically test both batteries to reveal the differences in their performance. All I see are conspiracy theories how Canon is trying to get rich selling more expensive batteries. Clearly, revenue from batteries is much smaller than selling camera bodies and expensive R lenses (the lens pricess went up with the new mount).

As an R5C user and getting this to be my backup camera and start using for photo shoots where IBIS and the new AF is better the battery thing is not going to be a big deal for me since I always use a v-mount battery on the R5C for video. I am a bit more upset about Canon supposedly banning 3rd party options for the new batteries, more so than the technology restrictions we run into using the old batteries. Locking down our lens's was bad enough, but now the batteries too! It's just too greedy TBH.

I never did use third-party batteries because I don’t trust them. I still think that’s a crazy idea to not allow third-party batteries or old batteries to be used at all.

Oversights? With the R5M2, there are a bunch of them. I am so sorry I bought an R5 Mark II. It is the little things that add up: A week before release...oh, by the way, the dynamic range is a little less than the nearly 5 year old R5. Oh, we are releasing a new camera today. Maybe we will get around to putting the advanced user guide on the website, maybe after we write it. Oh, yeah, that new hot shoe cover is water proof alright. It is owner proof too. Supposedly, all you have to do is push down the button on the hot shoe cover and slide it off. Well, I have tried two different hot-shoe covers on the new R5 Mark II, and it is a monumental effort to get it to slide off. Hats off to Canon. They come up with a design that does not work, and then they pump up all of the excitement, then release it anyway. Just outstanding Canon. This piece of crud is going back to the store. I am done with Canon. No, I am not spending 4300 to work out the bugs for Canon.

@@bladerealm124 like skipped was ugly ugly in full frame on the r5. It’s the same on the r5Ii. If you’re not doing fine mode. I encourage to have cropped on. It’s a better image.

Spoken like a true pro! The 2k, 10bit in Canon Horizon leveling 4 channels audio No record limit Heat management and OPTIONS for upgrade So many huge upgrade, idk what people have their panties in a bunch about this thing is huge. Sucks about the batteries but at least my R6s will have plenty.

I was frankly blown away by the quality of the HD footage when shooting in the dual Photo Video mode it’s extremely good

Originally I bought the R5C but the battery life and clog 3 profile in video was pretty annoying. You have to overexpose when you're shooting in log on the R5C. Using the C70 the image is much more pleasing for indoor shoots and outdoor. Only thing I don't like is having to worry about the sensor size in comparison to the R5C.

@@wildwedding yeah basically if you want accurate exposure the image is funky so you dont want to keep it turned on. If you do weddings I couldnt see it being useful. its too fast paced and conditions change too much.
