The in-flight dragonflies are impressive. I liked the finches and the Snowy Egret. I'm pretty sure one of your Snowy was a Great Egret. Those are cool too. Thanks, JP! Thumbs up.

Than you, thank you Phil. There are actually 3 different types out there according to my friend Toni. There are two different types of Snowies and yes you did see the great egret. She has some great video in a documentary of them hunting and feeding. This set up is pretty amazing. I was indifferent about this lens until I put it on the R5 MK II - I LOVE it. Gonna me my main rig in Arizona next week for hummingbirds. 🙏💖 🤗

We all have different needs from photography some do it for a living, l do it for enjoyment and up until now every camera l have owned including the R6ii has had something that frustrates me but the R5ii is the first camera l can shoot with and totally enjoy the outing. Up until now it is the actual tech that has irritated me because you just could not quite set it up to get the most from it but this camera has the customisation to make the camera work to it's potential, no it is not perfect but Canon now have a camera that is a joy to use.

That is awesome. When I get something new no matter the system, I try to work around what does not work for me and just make the best of it. Like everything we do, the gear or tools we use are personal to us based on how we do things. Enjoy your R5 Mark II. I have to go shoot more hummingbirds now LOL. What is your favorite lens with the R5 Mark II? 🙏🤗💖

@@JonnyPink65 The favourite lens l own is the RF135mm 1.8 but the lens that is always on my R5ii is the 200/800 with a 1.4 teleconverter, soft images?? No l don't think so.

@@isotechimages.9130 Awesome. This lens on this body has been the most impressed I have been with it - great combo. I will have to try it with a 1.4 extender sometime for a bit more reach but in truth, 800mm for me is my favorite focal length.. A little more will be fun. My favorite lens is the 100-500 but it a little short so I keep the 1.4 on it.💖

Hey Jonny, when you describe your settings, you have bias listed. Is that exposure compensation?
@JonnyPink652 ай бұрын
It is. As it gets later in the day, I bring it down. And if I am shooting the white birds like egrets, I bring it down a little lower. Does not always work but I use that to preserve some highlights. Years ago when shooting DSLRs, I would bring it UP when shooting in low light or in the rain. Some may say I was wrong to do that, but it worked for me. Since I shoot these day in auto ISO and let the camera decide the correct exposure based on my shutter and aperture, I want to have a little more control on the highlights. I personally would rather under expose a little and keep the highlights. It is what works for me. 🙏🤗💖

How's the sharpness of the 200-800 at 800mm with the r5ii?
@JonnyPink652 ай бұрын
Surprisingly.. it is the best body I have used it on at all focal ranges. The 200-800 I have found to be limiting in that I will only use it on a full frame body. In the correct light, it was good on other bodies, but so far, I am blown away with what I am getting using this combo. Working on a low light beach video right now and I was impressed. So much so that when i go back to Paton in a week to shoot hummingbirds, this time is is going to me my main set up. For me, the two seem to pair really well.... even at 800mm. When I shoot an zoom, I tend to shoot it at the max focal length 99% of the time. 🙏🤗💖

So which do you prefer for these shots on the r5 mkii? 100-500 L or this one?
@JonnyPink652 ай бұрын
This has really thrown me. If you had asked me a week ago - three weeks ago, i would not have hesitated and I would have said the 100-500 all day long. But this paring has really really impressed me. I will be shooting hummingbirds again next week in Arizona and this is the rig I will have. I will also have the 100-500 on the R7 for super close up shots but this one..... I have found a new favorite combo for me. And I was about to sell the 200-800!!! 🙏💖🤗

If you take the 405 - search Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve, 6350 Woodley Ave, Van Nuys, CA 91436 - it will show you getting off on Victory and you can, but I would take the Burbank Exit. Go west and turn right to park on Woodley at Burbank. Cross the street and again, head south towards the river. Easy. Let me know when you are going and if I am able, I will join you!! 🙏💖🤗

The 200-800 is not an L lens. Do you have any concerns about being out in bad weather? I know... no such thing in CA.
@JonnyPink652 ай бұрын
LOL, we do get rain here.... once in a while! I always carry rain covers and LOVE shooting in the rain. My first time out with the 200-800, it was pouring and I was so excited to get out, all I had to wrap the lens with was an old rain slicker. No problem. I LOVE shooting in the rain and will use this set up even if it is pouring.. I know this is not an L lens but I have been impressed with this set up as a pairing. The 200-800 is an OK lens that I have liked best on full frame cameras - especially the R8 based on how I shoot. But on the R5 Mark II for me so far, it really seems to shine. I am working on a low light beach video and I LOVE what I was able to capture. So much so, that I am planning on using it as my main rig in Arizona next week when I go to shoot hummingbirds again. For me, it has been a surprisingly awesome combo. 🙏🤗💖

I love the dragonfly and house finch pictures. I love the sound of Killdeer. I have been shooting quite a bit with that combination. When I ordered both of these I was waiting for the announcement then ordered from a local store. I think I am going to shoot there on Saturday or Sunday to see if I can get some more - I like that sound too and make take an external recorder and just let it run for a bit. When you are in San Diego, another place James and I were told about is the San Diego Mud flats and Robb Field. think of checking that out on Monday or at some point any way.
