I bought the R5C for me and my wife. I do video, my wife is a photographer. I can't get enough of how good the footage looks out of the R5C and also how detailed the photographs are. Love this camera!

You're absolutely right. I was almost steered away from the R5C after seeing so many negative reviews and fatal flaws but I decided to get one anyway because I really wanted something with strong video features and that could also take photos if I ever needed. Just yesterday I did an unexpected real estate shoot and I loved this camera even more!

Exactly the same for me. R5C absolutely nailed one of our shots this week, life-changing shot. Main stream media and now some social media is full of hyperbole. Fortunately this man and a small proportion of our fellow realists are firmly rooted in the real world. Also, as an aside, lighting is so much more important than the camera anyway, and story is more important than any equipment.

Great video. I got into video in the DVX100 and XL1s era, when the newest thing that came out was amazing and nobody was nitpicking audio bitrates and tiny features they wished they had. I have an R5C and I love it. There's no universally perfect camera, and there never will be. The perfect camera is the one that does what you need it to do at any given time. Looking forward to more of your videos!

Great video, love how honest and real this is compared to other creators. The one I’ll say is that when it comes to these content creators, it’s literally thier job and livelihood to create interest and intrigue with thier titles and thumbnails and get people to click and if you watched the video then you fell for it 😂
@Chase-Video11 ай бұрын
Last year I bought an R5 over the R5C as a b-cam based on KZbin reviews. I picked up the R5C recently and on day one I realised this is the camera I should’ve bought in the first place. In retrospect, most of those reviewers weren’t even video-first guys, they were photographers who are also content creations. Their needs are completely different to mine. The R5C is brilliant because you can use it rigged out if you need, but also strip it right down and you have an undercover 8K cinema camera that you can sneak into anywhere without drawing much attention. The mini-HDMI thing is funny because there’s a bracket for it in the box that not a single reviewer I watched mentioned 😂

I was on the fence between the C70 and R5C, but since I do hybrid work consistently...the R5c was a no brainer. And after actually USING it for a while, I love it. I've got a couple PD chargers no bigger than my iphone that i rig to it for video days, and between that and keeping it in playback mode if I'm not filming....it works beyond just fine.

Thank you! I'm learning a bunch with my R5C and yes I get a little bummed when I see people trashing it on KZbin. But, I've stepped away from that because of the very same list of things you said. I have zero need to do anything other than shoot more with purpose and learn how to use what I own. Thanks for encouraging us to just use our shit with purpose.

Agree, but also disagree. The advantage of IBIS plus lens stabilization for my stills work can't be overstated. Sure I don't NEED IBIS because I never used to have it in the past, my job just took (literally) twice as long as was much harder. Great camera or not, depending on your specific work, small detials can be a deal breaker.

I absolutely agree. I done a lot of research before I buy any camera (Bmpcc 6k/Canon R5C) with the exception of DJI Action 4 and Pocket 3, I find that the Canon R5C has the great pricing point and the features I need for cinematography, photos on the side if I need it. (I owned a 1Ds Mark III) Therefore I too own a lot of EF lenses.

Thank you for my words... I learned photography in the analog era, then worked in TV for a long time and also created videos... I'm always just as stunned how you can tear products apart like that, but nowadays you have so many alternative possibilities compared to our time... Most of the comments made by content creators are also simply technically wrong and even I once let myself be tempted to tell a CC in a comment to buy a video camera and not moan about a hybrid camera... This technology nowadays is just brilliant maybe it's easier for me to say that because I'm from a different time... I once told a CC who only talked about how the camera works, how to make the best music video with it without ever showing the video, that he should share some of his work with the viewers, he even replied that he wanted to do so, but nothing ever came of it... I grew up with Canon and I'm more than happy with the equipment for my work, sometimes I'd even say it's more than I need... there's post-production for that, what do you all think they did 50 years ago? So thanks again, you guessed my thoughts 100%. 👌🏾☺️

You are so damn right about the reviews, people don't buy gears on the bases of their requirements & hiw well they perform in daily use, they buy them because some youtuber has suggested, my first camera was Eor R, which honestly an amazing camera for both photos & videos & I have used that in almost every project whether its a wedding, gym video, real-estate shoot not matter what the job is that camera has always performed flawless & the only down fall was the 4k but that wasn't the cameras fault. Now I own R6 mark ii which is also an amazing camera. Here in north india I rarely get any canon shooter they all are brain washed for Sony. Guys it's not the brand it's the person who's using it ...

I understand where you’re coming from, the R5C is a fantastic camera but what stopped me from buying it was simply the poor battery life. Not interested in carrying a dozen batteries or rigging it up to run on an external power source especially when traveling through various weather conditions. Coming from a Sony A7SIII a full size HDMI is more reliable and less likely to break but I was used to the smaller port before that so not a big deal as long as it works. I Went with the R3 for its battery, ergonomics, ruggedness and don’t need anything more than 6k 60. With that being said I agree that specs aren’t everything as long as the gear makes sense to you.

Thank you, I really think it’s just lame, especially the why I‘m returning one, like didn’t the person make enough research or what??? The R5C is an amazing Camera, does VR videos, records 8K with Cinema Codecs, dual Native ISO, sure the battery life is sort of a joke, but that’s also because the tiny battery has to also run the fan as well, IMO Video Cameras are supposed to be somewhat rigged out, and the fact that one can still V mount a battery to the R5/C makes it such a great Camera that can be very portable for hand held shots where having 3 batteries on set will be more than enough since the rest of the shots would be on a tripod or on a supported mechanism like say a dolly, depending on what the shot one is going for.

Great information. I was looking for some advanced version of r5. I am using r5 for my photography and video shoots since two years. I loved it but i am facing only 1 issue i.e. it heats up soon. I am wildlife video maker and wanted to have some compact camera that i can carry on wildlife safaris. After watching your video i think r5c is something i can think of. Just want your one genuine review as u r using it. Do this camera also need to cool down after every 20 min shoot ( in wildlife, we cant just stop the recording in between, might loose imp. Scene which the only issue i am facing with r5). If r5c also has same issue than r5 is already working for me, and i dont need to buy a gear. Please suggest.

Most people, myself included, listen to reviews to get an idea of how certain gear performs and some of the limitations it might have. For example, if a camera;s auto-focus "hunts" too much to be usable,, that might mean something to someone. However, if I want to know how a piece of gear might work in my workflow, I will rent it and USE it. Yes you said something to that effect but the title of this video and it's "real" content are not quite in line.Maybe tell us WHY the R5C is good in your opinion. Just a thought.

Too many people get lost in the sauce. It's like audiophiles...the lose the joy of listening to music or cinema audio that got them into the hobby in the first place because they're spending all of their time tweaking the settings, or complaining. 10s of thousands into something they're not even partaking in anymore. Granted, for many, tools like cameras are part of a job. I got the R5C a couple weeks ago, and found some helpful videos, but almost every single one of them had to drone on, and on about the negatives...and I'm just some dude with a business trying to produce my own videos, and images for our products, which I've been doing for a long time with low end DSLRs and Phones.
