Hey guys thanks for the feedback about eye sensor issue. I’ve figured out that I can use AUTO1 which uses the display only when it’s flipped out. This works but sometimes when filming handheld I like to switch quickly to viewfinder while leaving the flip screen out. So for that I just mapped a custom button to switch between screen and EVF. Thanks again!!

When I shoot on gimbal I usually have the LCD screen flipped out and there's a setting where the eye sensor is disabled when you have the LCD screen flipped out, which I found was very useful when shooting on a gimbal

As a hybid shooter the two cons you missed are no video backup and over complex photo/video switch. The latter one would be easy for canon to fix. Had they done this I'd have bought one.

Costs aside, if the R5 can shoot medium raw, then that could be a way to cut down on the storage requirements for most of the photos, while still being able to get higher res frames for shots that you'd like in full detail

you can setup auto switching between VF & screen. go to setup menu, page 3, top entry.. chnage to auto2. now if you look trough the vf the screen is of.. if you remove the cam from your eye it switches to the rear screen.

Hi Mitch nice video. How noticeable is the difference between a clip in 4k HQ in FF mode and the slightly upscaled 4k version when filming in APS-C mode (if you want more reach out of your lens)? In 24 and 60 fps. Is the difference noticeable? Distracting when clips follow each other up in a sequence? The R5 is amazing and also oversampled in the crop mode but it's a lot more $$$.

The r6 doesn’t have 4k HQ - because it has lower megapixels. So I’m not sure I can answer your questions because I haven’t done in depth testing. I know there are some channels who have on youtube though you should be able to find it with a quick search :)

Hey could you answer me one question? Is it possible with the R6 to shoot time laps and use at the same time thy eye autofocus? I would use it for self portraits. I use this method on my 6D with magic lantern. I use it to don’t have a phone or a trigger in my hands when I make self portraits. Every picture the my 6D takes it search for a new focus, so I only have to stand on the right point and it works ok for me. If this function with eye autofocus works on the R6 it would change everything for me, because i could stand everywhere in the frame and every picture would be perfect. I don’t know if you 100% understand my point, but could you test this out for me if this could be possible with the R6? Could you answer me here under my post or could make a video about that? In my opinion, if you are more into general purpose, wildlife and or outdoor sports shooting then first combo seems more appealing but if you are more into portraits, low light and indoor sports shooting then second combo makes more sense. You know what, get all of them..😁

Hi Mitch, what are your thoughts on editing R6 files in Davinci vs FCPX on your M1 Macbook? My experience is that Davinci still struggles with this, even on a 1080p timeline, whereas in FCPX it plays back smoothly all of the times.

Hi Mitch or someone, I just picked up my R6. Tried with AF servo + eye tracking. When I am having someone or an animal in the frame, it won't lock focus on any thing. This may be fine. However, it causes the lens making very loud sound and I feel I could kill the lens if keep half pressing. Is this normal or am I having a defected camera? Thanks in advance.

The setting is called "Screen/viewfinder display". It has to do with this obviously, if you go into the setting there's four options; AUTO1: Auto 1 (Vari-angle: only screen) Always use the screen for display when it is swung out. Use the screen for display when it is closed and facing you, and switch to viewfinder display when you look through the viewfinder. AUTO2: Auto 2 (Vari-angle: auto switching) Always use the screen for display, but switch to the viewfinder when you look through it. VIewfinder: Always use the viewfinder for display. Screen: Always use the screen for display when it is closed and facing you.

@@MitchLally got it, ty. I just recently upgraded from an older 5D mkii to the R6 (no comparison) but I am still using my EF-L 16-35 (2.8) and 24-105 (f4) lenses. Hoping to maybe sell off these 2 and upgrade to the newer RF lenses. I have not yet found my sweet spot in the entire worlkflow from taking my images to post-production but im still tinkering around. I'm not a pro shooter but more of an enthusiast hobbyist. TY for posting great content.

I don’t think it’s worth it at all to switch from the R to the R6 as the 30MP beats the 20 MP if you want to punch in? Forget video as the Rseries is photo first then video second forget the the dual pixel 2 as the R or RP is still great focusing - Maybe R3, the R has the custom Option for view finder versus Live screen toggle NEVER THE LESS luvvvvvv your content keep it coming always 🙌🏾

@@shawn5210 but it’s not bad to go out and buy the R5 or R6… and I’m strictly taking on a photo perspective! video 1080p is still good and the 4K obviously cropped but it’s not really that bad - Clog 10 bit and a lil sharpen you couldn’t tell the difference on KZbin! C70 if you trying to make a Netflix movie! All I’m saying I I’m saving for that R3 and I would not trade in my R for the R5 or R6 IPB camera or pick 20 MP over 30MP andddddd I’m not saying you are wrong but obviously new TECH rules and if you can afford to get R5 and R6 go ahead but I don’t feel to go spend 5G when I can add 3G more and get the R3

Went from the RP to the R6... And as he states, the shadow recovery is legit. I just pulled shadows at 100% and 2 stops of exposure with minimal if any noise. Amazing.

$2300 for a 20MP sensor. RP would be the better choice then. Depending on your needs.

If it moves fast go with the the R6. Also the R6 has the same sensor as the 1Dx mk III. If you just shoot landscapes and portraits the EOS R is a good choice. If you are only going to shoot family photos the RP should be fine.
