I am surprised you disliked the ability to shift the AF point via the the Touch Display. I really liked how fast you could move the point around without even taking the camera down. I am usually a center point AF shooter, so this interaction with the sensor gave me additional freedom. Especially combined with the tracking function that worked really well on the R6.

Very good info. I had my autofocus set to SERVO at a wedding and I should of had it on one shot. I was wondering why my autofocus points were shifting all over kingdom come. Your simple reminder while demo'ing the customize button settings reminded me to set it back to One Shot! Thanks!

Glad it could help! I found setting that custom button really helpful as I use servo and one shot about 50/50 on my shoots.

Nice setup! Do you use Auto ISO? If so? how do I switch to auto iso without diving in the menus? I couldn’t see it in the Q menu?
@MitchLally4 жыл бұрын
I don’t use auto ISO. But if you go to iso 100 and move the dial one more step to the left you get auto iso - that’s the quickest way I think!
@eliaspap87084 жыл бұрын
@@MitchLally that’s how I expected it to work, which is the way mg IDX did it. But it’s not happening like that with the R6! I go all the way to the left and I tried all the way to the right but no Auto? U have to change it in the menu.

The lens correction is applied to jpeg files just like the adjustments you make to the standard picture settings is only to the jpeg files. This affects both the jpeg file you give someone and the image you see on the camera screen. You can correct for vignetting and distortion giving you the ability to see the effect immediately on screen and on captured image playback.

Awesome video in great clarity! How would you manage a group shot in a studio environment? which methods would you take to try to get everyone in focus?
@MitchLally3 жыл бұрын
Put all of the people in the same plane of focus (same distance from the camera) or use a smaller aperture (f4 - f8) to increase your depth of field.
@josephw96903 жыл бұрын
@@MitchLally Thanks a lot, is there a downside to go at f16 or 18 for an even greater depth of field? (in studio I don't need bokeh) Also in most instances a group would look nicer when they aren't at same distance as I usually place the kids in front of the parents etc. would the R6 face detection be able to recognize and track each face individually? or in this case I would be forced to use single points and turn off eye/face track?

While I understand you setup dials in M (manual), I noticed, if I switch to Av (aperture priority) the dial you set to shutter speed near shutter release now changes aperture. Is it possible to keep it on the wheel? With shutter speed priority still is not an issue, of course.

I usuall set my ISO preferences. Sometimes if possible I use base low ISO or if possible extended low ISO like 64. Other times I like to set an upper ISO limit for Auto ISO. When do you set these in the menu and what is the highest ISO that does not have too much noise. I don't like having to go into PP noise reduction and don't like in camera noise reduction because of loss of details. What do you use.

Nice...one of the best setup videos among many... I can't find solution to a problem. I always had depth of field button setup for temporary toggle between single or continuous (it would switch to continuous just when you were holding it). I can't seem to do that any more. It makes the switch premanent. Don't know if it would makes sense for mirrorles just yet but it was my favorite custom thing for mk3 and mk4. Also, I disabled automatic switch between screen and viewfinder to avoid changing of settings while my camera is hanging on a strap by touching display. I switch it with movie record button. Is there better way perhaps? I had Eos R for a short time and couldn't work with it...hope this one sticks. :)

I love how you talked about the Clog settings and the fact that you use "Neutral" instead of the default "EOS Original". I had the R and tested these settings and found the EOS Original to be more like what I saw in real life, and the Neutral setting to shift colours to a more magenta look. When I get my R5 I will have to test this more. I know Matti Haapoja also prefers the Neutral option as well.
