Canon R6 vs R6ii: Worth The Upgrade in 2024?

you missed some thing important the r6mk2 has a much bigger auto focus box on the rf 600-800 f11 lenses which is a big deal.

Thus was good info but I'm not sure the 4MP is a tiny increase. It's 20% over the 20MP in the original. I have the original and only shoot stills so I am considering it but am tempted by the R5 and waiting for the R5II. Thanks for the info and best of luck with the channel

Same. You should wait for R5ii or R5 discount. R6ii main upgrades are the AF and video spec

I agree, I can see the 20% increase making a difference in some cases but if you're coming from the R6i, the video upgrades seem like more of a reason to switch to the R6ii compared to the photo upgrades.

The R5 is a beast of a camera, I picked one up not too long ago, I'll be making videos on that one soon!

Thank you for the video, I have a question for you, is there any difference in autofocus performance between R3 and R6 Mark 2??? Because there is conflicting information on the internet comparing the performance of these two cameras, I have personally seen a few comparison videos (especially from wildlife photographers) who believe that the R6 Mark 2 performs similarly and in some ways even better than the R3, while Many people believe that the R3 definitely has better and more stable performance due to using a much faster sensor, and finally there are tons of videos that say there is no visible difference in autofocus performance between the two cameras. !! It's really confusing!!! I would like to know your opinion because apparently you have experience using both cameras??

Thanks for the comment! Yes I have found that the 2 cameras are very similar in autofocus performance. The only slight difference would be in how the autofocus holds up when the shutter is on continuous high shooting which is a bit better on the R3 since it’s the faster camera but it’s not a staggering difference.

Has the R6 Mark II overheated for you even when shooting 24/30p? Canon claims it won’t and I’ve never ran into that issue. Also don’t forget the R6II has a faster readout, better dynamic range and 6K oversampling, as well as it shoots photos twice the speed of the R6, which hybrid shooters who do sports or action will appreciate

When switching to 24/30 I've never ran into the overheating issue on the R6ii. I've seen the warning start to come up in some extreme cases but its never actually overheated on me!
