Sir - you are a gentleman. This is the first time I've seen your video....I have to say...i appreciate your clear concise language. Your english is excellent. I understood every word because you speak so well. (BTW great voice as well) You are professional. and above all the info was top notch - As someone who watches youtube a lot...many vloggers try and fill time with fluff or stalling to get a longer video...or they impose too much personality with little content. but you stuck to the basic reason I wanted to watch the video with out extra BS... I wish all youtubers would have your no-nonsense approach...I'm stating these things because not only did I enjoy the presentation...but I was able to distill the info you presented , that was necessary for me to help make a decision - You have yourself a new fan - thank You Jeremy

How would you compare this camera to the nikon d3400 or 3500? Can someone please tell me what camera to get as a new photographer but not totally inexperienced. Thanks so much
@zodx19 Жыл бұрын
I have the Nikon d3500 with several lenses. It does take a learning curve but KZbin is very helpful for that same at least 3 30 minute videos on how to operate the camera. Once you over the hump the learning curve it's pretty easy. It's very similar to my old Olympus OM2 back in the film days. Or just hit the camera and auto and let it do its thing. Plus I get my camera used in wind condition in a pawn shop including the lenses. An buy a warranty.

Hi Jeremy, thanks for the nice review! while not particular to this model, seems like the screen display can eat up a lot of battery. is there anything you can say about the difference of experience shooting with the viewfinder instead of the display? is there less information displayed there? or is it harder to control and change some settings?
@fireplugrm3 жыл бұрын
I provide training on new fire trucks via PowerPoint. I need to take digital pics of parts that are chrome, polished stainless and high gloss paints. Light control is critical. I do little video but am always learning. I an thinking the T8i would fit my needs. Wanting to stay around $1K or so. Your opinion, please. Thanks in advance.

Hello sorry why in the photo settings with the selector in position "A" I don't have the possibility to choose the 16: 9 format? but I only have the option to choose the size of the photo?
@JeremySmithPhotography2 жыл бұрын
If you mean "A" as in the green auto mode try using P instead. Many options aren't available in the green auto setting.

Hey, I am currently looking to buy a new camera and can't decide between this one and the eos m50 mark 2. I researched all that I could about both, but couldn't find a direct comparison between their live view autofocus speed in low light conditions. That would be awesome if you could do such a test 😁
@HawkFest2 жыл бұрын
Take this one. Since Canon's latest mirrorless R7 and R10, the "M" line (including the M50 and M50 Mark II, along the M lenses), is for history - Canon will not develop any new model nor lens for this family anymore. In terms of image quality and features, the T8i is also better than the M50 Mark II (for instance, Dual Pixel AF and face follow in 1080p 60FPS). More over, the T8i has a vast amount of lens choices between the EF family and the EF-S family, _natively (it can accommodate both: on the camera's body mounting ring, follow the white square for EF-S lenses, and the red dot for EF lenses)._ However, you'd have to take the APS-C crop factor into account to get a better idea of EF focal length. Easy : focal length times the crop factor will give the "real" one compared to a full-frame camera. For instance, the popular EF 50mm f/1.8 will actually be like a (50 * 1.6) = 80mm f/1.8.

thanks for the video,i think canon type in there website no crop on 4k why there is an a crop
@JeremySmithPhotography4 жыл бұрын
On the Canon USA site there is an asterisk beside "4K UHD" with a footnote that says: "The image is cropped around the center of the image sensor". Not sure what it says on the international Canon sites, do you have a link?

How do you remove the compartment cover so that i can use batter grip?
@SuffocatedInBlood3 жыл бұрын
Hello, I bought a t8i and I cannot see the raw, the same thing happens to me when trying to download the examples that you put in the description
@JeremySmithPhotography3 жыл бұрын
To view raw files you need dedicated image editing software like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Lightroom, Capture One, etc.

Thanks for the video. In your opinion, is the T8i worth the $300 more it costs vs the t7i?

I don't think it is for stills but video is another story.

Hi Jeremy , have you reviewed the canon M50? What are your thoughts about the M50?
@JeremySmithPhotography2 жыл бұрын
The Canon M50 has capabilities nearly identical to the T8i. The only downside is that the lens selection is limited, if you are okay with basic lenses you will be set. However the Rebel makes more sense if you want a wider variety of lenses to choose from. If you have a bit larger budget I would also look at Canon's newer RF mirrorless system.

What if you want a battery grip? How do you remove the battery lid?
@JeremySmithPhotography3 жыл бұрын
While the battery door is open at a 45º angle pull it gently away from the camera. Be aware though that Canon does not officially make a grip for this camera, there are however aftermarket options.
