Great review, only critique is that we'd love to see some in action footage while you're talking. Maybe some photos of the image quality differences between the t7i and t8i, or some of the 4k footage while explaining the pros and cons you did. Other than that, the information was 10/10 and i'll be coming back for more reviews!

I have the Canon T7i. I'm surprised that Canon didn't make a mid-range mirrorless camera for the rebel Series to compete more with Sony. I suspect the Rebel series eventually will get that treatment, probably three years from now when their next rebel comes out.

@@husker_nation actually the m50 is not a flop, other than the fact that the 4k isn't as great, it's a pretty popular camera. I don't think they will convert the rebel line to mirror less since they have the r and r5 which are both amazing cameras.

@@carstensevier8786 The R5 isn't in the same category as the Rebel Line. As far as the R and RP, they're not entry level as well, so to compare the two of them to the Rebel line isn't a fair assessment. The M50 is popular, and is the right entry level to compare to the Rebel line, but I honestly do think the rebel line will stick around and will eventually go mirrorless as that's the way of the future. If Canon has any sense, they won't chop off the Rebel line because of brand recognition. The M50 does do well, but should bring that under the Rebel umbrella.

Thanks for this video! I found it very helpful. I had a question about the camera - I find it takes a good 2 (long) seconds for the photo to show up on the viewfinder and I'm wondering if there's any way to speed that up? Would reducing the resolution of the photo help display the photo faster? Thanks!

I do use the shutter release for taking time lapse and hyper lapse video using my intervalometer. So, until they incorporate that function, into the camera, then the shutter release is very much needed.

Hey Tbones! I recently discovered your channel! I currently have an SL2 and feel like I've outgrown it. I've been trying to decide between the T8i and 90D. I've watched your other videos concerning these two cameras. Price isn't really a factor for me and I'm content with 1080p. The reason I'm hesitating on getting the 90D is the size/weight. I'm used to vlogging with a smaller/lighter camera, which is why I'm considering the T8i. However, considering what you said about the T8i not being much of an improvement over the T7i, and that the SL2 is essentially just a smaller/lighter T7i, should I even be considering the T8i? Maybe I should just keep the SL2 if I want a smaller/lighter setup. Do you think the 90D small/light enough to vlog with? Any guidance will be appreciated.

The best camera for vlogging is the EOS RP it’s has a full frame sensor and used it will run you around $800 I believe

I’m desperate for an upgrade for my 1300D/Rebel T6, I’ve been looking at the 90d but just a little short cash wise. As an enthusiast photographer, would the T8i be worth the upgrade or would I end up needing to upgrade again in a couple of years?

I think as an enthusiast photographer you would really not regret picking up the T8i it’s a huge upgrade from the T6 and should help you a lot!

According to Canon marketing, the 90D is the enthusiast level camera with the T8i being an advanced beginner model. That being said, the T8i will still be a huge upgrade over the T6. I currently have an old 60D and considering upgrading to the T8i instead of the 90D because of the Rebel's lower cost and weight. For photography, the only thing I will miss from the 90D is the top LCD. I'm hoping I can get used to that change...

soginvl Thanks for that, obviously my 1300 is my first DSLR and really showing it’s limitations now. It was only due to the Nikon equivalent, the D3400 I think it was, going up by £100 when I came to buy it that made me go with Canon. I’d had quite a few Canon Compacts before but when it came to a DSLR I was starting from scratch and just wanted something I could afford and something not full of bells and whist I wouldn’t know what to do with. Now I’m sort of stuck as I’m unable to work due to my numerous health issues so on a very limited budget and have 5 lenses for Canon EF-S. Well one is an EF and my Sigma May fit Full Frame so I’m hesitant to jump .

What are you wanting to use your camera for? The t8i is a dslr, meaning you can switch lenses, the g7x is a point and shoot, meaning you can only use the lense on the camera.

Cuz, just body 80d costs around 850eu, and t8i with lens is 1000eu and sl3 with lens is 650eu! I just want to shoot a quality picture and video. There is always a market and those "entry models" are a great way to get into photography without breaking the bank... Lens are relatively inexpensive... Nikon does have better dynamic range but Canon autofocus is the best in the game

yes - stock lens if its the 18-55 they have bundled with the body its a piece of sh1t. Treat yourself to a couple of decent lenses. What you get depends on what you want to photograph.

Good video, but it might have been worthwhile to introduce people to the idea of getting the T7i used, and spending the extra money on a used 50mm prime lens. It would have made the review a bit longer, and made the choice a bit more complicated for a total novice viewer, but letting them know how much upgrading the lenses can be for getting better pictures might be a good idea.

It depends on the region, in Japan it’s the Kiss X10i, in the US it is known as the Rebel T8i, in other countries it’s known as the EOS 850D.

Seriously? Only last 5 or 6 years? I'd hope my camera would last way longer than that. I'm still using a rebel xsi, had it for well over 10 years. Yes I've wanted to upgrade, and am seriously trying to save money for a new one now, but I can't afford to buy new cameras every 5 or 6 years, so sure hope whatever I end up with (actually kinda hoping for the 90d at this time, but would consider this one) it will last way longer than 5 or 6 years!

My audio is in manual mode but there is no meter visible on the screen except for when I am setting the levels. When I’m actually shooting the video, there’s no way to see the audio levels

As far as I can tell, 4k is irrelevant in regards to video. I have yet to see amazing images (compared to 1080p) and I have a high end 65" 8 series Samsung 4K. Maybe I'm wrong though.
