Nah , canon would probably know chara , she was the first fallen child and her parents were the king and queen of underground , sans would probably know her. Edit: ( yes i just uploaded this comment and i already edit it ) at new home monsters tell you that when she died , the WHOLE underground lost hope ( sans would prob know that she died. )

Hii So basically in the game it said that Sans and Papyrus came a random day and then got a house etc without anyone knowing where they came from but for me they maybe came after Chara's death :') Maybe they knew Chara from the story they were being told but that's only my interpretation 😭 Yours can be also right and maybe I'm just messing up everything rn but yeah ty !! :)
