Well with modern technology, aligning really isn't that much of a Problem anymore. I found it really useful for taking pictures in locations of OLD photos. Take a full-fill pic of the old picture and use the ghostimage to get into the exact location/ focal length that the old picture used.

yes this is a problem. The only way at present whilst you record is using visually monitoring using the meters that appear when you enable magic lantern meters. You cannot listen to the actual sound recording live on the camera but you can use a preamp such as the juice link one or siimilar (eg beachtek) or even a handheld recorder eg zoom or tascam connected to the mic input and listen "live" via headphones on those devices. I have a couple of videos on the audio on the Canon you can watch.

yes it really is. Even better is that for taking panoramic photos it is great cos you can exacxtly line up the edges of several shots to ensure a perfect panoramic

Thank you for taking time out to make these informative videos. I also have a T3i and one common problem i see and read about is the inability to actually monitor the audio while you're recording. How do you go about bypassing this problem? If you have already answered this, then I apologize.

Nice walkthrough of the options. I have a550D and the latest ML installed. I'm shooting 1920x1080@24 fps, but I cannot set the shutter speed to 1/48 (180). Manual exposure is also enabled. Any suggestions as to why?

how do u sometimes have both the magic lantern (meaning the audio meters on top) running but then the regular canon firmware style on the bottom (where the ISO, fstop, and shutter speed are) at the same time?

I got few questions: (I have Canon 600D) 1. when I start recording movie, my grid on the screen disappears, how can I keep it? 2. is there 24 fps available? cause ML writes 23.976 3. is the shutter speed 1/48 available in ML? cause the nearest one that I found is 1/46.9 183' I know my questions are so banal, I'm just starting out. but I would appreciate if you could help me. Could you please give us an update as to whether you can select 1/48 shutter speed (180 degrees)? I have seen so many posts saying they are now unable to select 1/48 (getting 1/47 or 1/50 instead)!

Thanks for a great video. The focusing options are particularly helpful for shooting with an old manual lens. Quick question: What is the outcome on the image if a 24fps video is shot using a shutter speed other than 1/48s?

hi i have examined the box and the unit as well as my original youtube order and it doesnt have a brand name. It seems just a generic Chinese product. It is probably the same one sold by a number of sellers on ebay-- if it helps it says BP-550D on the base of the unit

ghost imaging would be handy for panorama photos. you can see the last picture you took, and line the edge up with the edge of the next shot you're framing :3

What version of ML are you using in this video? I'm running 2.3 but I have a lot less menu options in the top. ML 2.3 is dated a little after this video was published but I don't know why they would remove features...

hi Dave i just Found another way for use Ghost Image... its very usefull in AstroPhotography.. i use Ghost image when i tracking manualy some objects on sky.. so i need take some 80 shots same object on sky in same position on frame..Ghost image is just Perfect for it :)

Thanks for the info! I was wondering how you get to use such a high ISO (1600) and still have a useable image. If I do that I get A LOT of noise. Just unusable. I even see it at ISO 100 in dark erea's.. really frustating

You may need to install a new firmware on the camera. Even though ML says it works with the installed version of the Canon firmware, you need to just reinstall it even if it's the same version you're already running.

Yes they do, when a mic is in the camera it disables the internal mic and enables the external mic, meaning that the meters will show the enabled audio :D

histogram/waveform should be your most useful tool IMO, i disagree with audio meters being the most important, DSLR audio is iffy at best, record external and sync up in post
