Canon XA70 Camcorder for VLog? (Canon R8 B Roll)

Thanks for the XA70 review. I own a Sony A6600. But was thinking of switching to XA70 for my long term travel across southeast Asia and mostly shooting videos for KZbin. Probably without the xlr handle to make it look smaller. What's your opinion? Should I use a camcorder or just stick with my old Sony? What I like about the camcorder is the built in zoom lens, ND filter, good internal mic, good stabilization, longer battery life and 1 inch sensor already good for me.

Depends on what you're filming. If you don't care about compactness and weight and plan to shoot long videos using a tripod then XA70 because it will not overheat and great focal length. What would I do if I already owned your Sony A6600 and was looking for something to complement it for video? DJI Osmo Pocket 3 all day long. I did not take my XA70 to Thailand last trip and wished I had but I'm not backpacker, I own a truck and have a residence in Thailand so I'll have it with me this trip. If you bring the XA70 definitely take the XLR handle with it for better handling & audio; it's not large or heavy to pack.

@@dagwoodstreets Thanks for your suggestion. Yeah I also liked the DJI P3 but it lacks an optical zoom. I was planning a train travel from my country (Malaysia up to China by train with family in a few months (hopefully). Just trying to select the best cam for our epic journey that only be done once in a lifetime. Back in 2017, we managed to travel by land up to Laos but focused 90% on photography and forgot how important video is nowadays. Thanks for replying and just subs.

Oh cool, I've always wanted to make the train trip from Singapore to Bangkok. I'm kinda the opposite and focus more on video but I'm starting to realize relatives may be more likely to flip through photos 20 years from now than watch my videos. Enjoy your trip!

very nice sir. although i own some mirrorless cameras, i shoot most of the time with my XA50. it's just a complete package i.e. xlr handle for better sound, nd filters, zoomable lens.
