This restaraunt in black pearl in alabama use to make this but with green peppers. Best pork ribs ever. It's so savory & the opposite of the sweet bbq pork ribs i was conditioned too. This gave me a new perspective on what pork could taste like. they also made pork intestines. I never tried it before but I would eat it again because of them.

Hi there, thanks for the comment. Yes this is a real classic chinese restaurant dish. Have seen green peppers and jalapeno peppers used which appears to be an american adaptation to the dish. All delicious nonetheless. Hope you try this recipe :)

Where did you use the toasted salt?
@Yummeth4 жыл бұрын
Hi there, the five spice salt is added 3 times in this recipes. First in the batter, then while frying the aromats, and finally sprinkled prior to serving. The full recipe is also in the description to help in case it's not clear in the video :)

what can I use instead of five spice powder?
@Yummeth4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately it's critical for the flavour to use five spice powder. You can try some other spices if you don't mind a less than authentic taste to this dish which will still be delicious :)

Lovely recipe but I would say this is almost deep frying.

Thanks for tuning in :) it's a lot less oil and also does not require double frying on high heat to achieve a crispy texture
