Covering or half covering her one eye seems to have been a visual trademark of Gabrielle's since way back when -- so I think it's necessary for any real portrait of her. And the artists did a lot with the half face they could see. A good challenge.

They’re tasked with creating a portrait of the chosen sitter. If the chosen sitter typically wears a hairstyle that covers part of their face then it would be contrived and dishonest to portray them otherwise.

@@shara-la8629I'm on the other end of the age spectrum and not a Brit so I've never heard of her. I thought the hair over the face was just a quirk from an artist's mind. But I did google her and read about her problems with her eye. As a 71 year old psychologist the way she copes with her eyelid problem could be handled in a less conspicuous manner. This hair over half her face only draws attention and speculation. But each of us is free to deal with our insecurities in whatever way we can.
