Those napkin birds are a hoot, but that crazy bunny has totally captured my heart. I want to put him on everything. I love it when you pull out the music paper with hymns. I find myself singing along while you glue and ink them.

So soothing to watch you bring random bits together into beautiful - and useful - bits. I enjoy using painty wet wipes. They go in my mixed media makes, create flowers with them, and used for texture/ background on journal pages - they are effective when stamped on, too. So full of yummy colours and that soft fluffy texture is awesome. I love listening to your stories; your warmth is tangible. As a cat owner (we have 5 of them!) I can well identify with the heartache of a damaged but still alive creature. I'm glad wee robin found a quiet sheltered space in your garden to 'retire'.

I’ve been watching your videos for a couple of months now and always love what you do! I’ve learned a lot from you and finally decided to jump in and do my first journal. It has given me a whole new appreciation for your works of art! I’m afraid my journal looks pretty horrible, but this is something I really want to do and I’m thinking that if I keep doing it maybe eventually I will get better at it. In the meantime, I’ll keep watching with awe at your creativity. You are the queen 👑

The big mistake I made here was making my first journal as a gift for a honeymoon couple going to Greece, so it is all themed according to what they will be doing there. I thought it would give me direction to kind of have a plan. I put a lot of time into format, colors etc. But I don’t have the gluing skills needed. Things are curling up, I’ve had to throw things away because I plain old used the wrong glue. In the end it would be just embarrassing to give it away. But, I think I have learned some things along the way.

Cindy, I’m in the same boat as you. I’ve never done any paper crafting and Gayle’s journals are so inspiring. I’ve been collecting paper kits from Etsy shops, glues, ephemera, labels, inks, stamps etc...I’ve organized the heck out of everything but seem to be frozen as how to get started. I made one card I’m pretty proud of but it certainly isn’t as good as I hope to be one day. I keep telling myself I’ll only get better if I practice but it’s like I’m afraid I’ll mess it up. I was watching Artymaze on KZbin and she said, “remember, it’s only paper. You can tear it up and throw it away if it’s not what you wanted.” So I’ll just dive in and see where it takes me. 🤔

oh boy, come on double digit! so excited for all of you. i remember watching a video where the gal up-cycled her painty baby wipes to make what she called mini canvas pieces. they were fun and made unique ephemera to add to tucks/pockets. she glued several of the painty baby wipes together (yes-it's messy) until she got the thickness she wanted, then cut them into squares and shapes to embellish and even painted on them. they were too textured to write on, but still fun and unique pieces and a great way to use our "mop up" baby wipes. i love how you've made a piece of art for all your grandchildren gayle. how special those are, and what treasures for each one of them to have from Nana! the one for DD is adorable so far. hope you might do a "show & tell" of the spinny organizer once you have it all set up. so sad to hear about the little robin :( we've had a few incidents like that in our yard over the years. last summer, i noticed a little wren who had been hopping around the backyard for several hours, then realized he had something stuck in his little beak and couldn't close his mouth! hubby and i had to do something, it was so sad just watching him. we put gloves on, hubby caught him and i very gently pried the piece of bird food out of his mouth. we watched him for awhile and pretty soon, he was able to flutter up onto our bird bath, get a big drink, then off he flew! Tracie's digi kit looks yummy! excited to see it all in the gorgeous cover.

Gayle, I'm so very glad to see a use for the baby wipes! I'm not a rabid recycler, but I do use old rags for my blotting and wiping and cringe when I see disposable wipes used. This is perfect! It keeps the wipes out of landfills and you still get the benefit of not having to soak your craft cloth before washing. I bet you can still use them for glue, as well, and then reuse them for these very pretty collages!

Prayers for double digits impending birth - hope the new family has an easy adjustment. I glued lace to book page edges while watching and carefully worked with the end of my fabri-tac. I am watching this at 4:00 a.m. with thunder and lightning, heavy ropy rain..... my son has health issues and is playing these soft sleep- aide -type music chords... Anyway, I saw these splashes of tears hit my keyboard... uh, huh... it was the li'l robin story that did me in!!! lol I am so happy your daughter is getting meds to help her. I have to admit I am floored you can use things like baby wipes, and pages with kitchen cupboards and feet, and cheesecloth... I sit back for the ride and think... Oh, that Gayle... she has her work cut out for her to do something good with that or this or those!!! but bit by bit you spin gold from straw... I love to watch and learn.

Enjoying your videos. As far as taking care of injured birds, I have learned from some friends of mine who are pretty much specialists when it comes to wild birds, that you put the bird in a large box, cover the box or close it up. Keep the bird in the dark and quiet for a few hours. Don’t worry about water or food yet. If it was in shock like from hitting a window or something it will recover. I had an inured dove in my yard. I put it in a box and kept it quiet. After a few hours he looked better and I put him out in the yard and he flew away. Yay. It is sad when cats get to them though. I have had that happen too.

Gayle. Love all the journal ideas. Good idea to reuse the wipes. Some wipes get such beautiful colors on them. Perfect for art. I sometimes cut my used wipes into 1 inch strips and sew pleated trims out of them for my journal pages. I haven't tried this idea yet, but if you have a multi colored wipe you might be able to make thin strips out of it and roll into a flower. Love your videos.

Oh ok, I don’t want to scare you but your “little” fruit box of scraps ain’t so little, it’s ginormous!!!!!! LOL 😜. Here in the U.K. there’s a big push to cut back on the wet wipes as so many are ending up in the seas and in whales tummies etc, but your idea of using them in crafting is superb. Think how if everyone crafted wet wipes it would help this crazy world we all live in, our community is loving and giving, less would end up inside an innocent mammals, or land fill??????? Gayle for the presidency!!!!! RIP little birdie. TFS😻xxx

Oh no, poor little robin....that is so so sad. I adore birds, and I am not trying to start an argument, but, my personal opinion is that people who get cats, (which I love too), definitely should keep them them inside and not let them become an outdoor cat. Gayle, Just to let you know, I often comment as you are going along in your video. Hopefully, I'm not writing too much, but I guess I just love chatting with you as you chat and craft. The canvases are looking really good. You said you aren't the best with your supplies. Well, I think you do much better than me. I feel like I just get things straightened and it's a big mess again. You do inspire me with putting away things right away, but still, I tend to just stop, when things get bad, and reorganize. I can't work if it gets too messy. I like the Wet Ones you are using for the cards. My husband brought home this cleaning cloth he uses at work to clean computers. It's got a great texture, too, and is big. So, I told him he could bring home those cloths anytime he thinks of it after he uses them. He's actually been helpful in saving things for me, so he probably will. Thanks for talking about the design team. It was very helpful in understanding what you are doing when you say it's for a design team. Oh, my gosh, the birds! Love them so much! And that poor little robin in your yard. With all the birds nesting around where I live, there are stories like that with me, too. I found out a few years ago, that most baby birds do not survive after leaving the nest. That's probably why the people you called weren't too worried about your bird. I also found out it's illegal to remove a nest, especially if it's a bird that's sparse, because babies don't always survive. And, girl, you are so funny with the Grandma story. Sounds like my Grandma stories with my grandkids. LOL It's so fun being a grandparent. Some nice crafts today in your video, Gayle! Now I want to go do something with birds. Thanks! Have a great rest of your day!

I'm all for recycle/reuse for artists - I hate seeing people using paper cups and plates and throwing them out - so I appreciated you using that well worn container for your modeling paste. BUT it hurt to watch you struggle to get it out and use it - a suggestion - turn it over and use the bottom when you are using a pallet knife. So easy to see when it's not me making the video LOL. I volunteered for five years at wildlife center my town. The cat caught birds most never live through an attack. Even with all the antibiotics we give them they never seem to pull through. Our hearts always drop the minute we heard about a cat caught bird. We saved hundreds of squirrels that have been cat caught. But birds its just to termatic for them. Our Oregon Department of Wildlife , will tell people to calls us. But you have to talk to a person to get our number. We visit schools, community service centers, the state fair. To let people know about our wildlife center for hurt, sick or orphaned wildlife. We average about 2800 to 3000 wildlife that come to us in need. Our center is Turtle Ridge Wildlife Center, in Salem Oregon.

Hi Gayle! I noticed that you only use one side of your "tear ruler". The other side of it looks like it would make a mess if you tore with it. So what would it be used for?!! Beautiful ephemera! Looking forward to seeing your canvas journals coming together!!

The other side just makes a bigger design. I’ve used it a couple of times, but prefer the smaller jiggy jags! ❤️

You need to change your settings on your full page on your computer. I took a class at the library and I came away with that tidbit of info. LOL

How about keeping it in your theme, “more than one way to make a journal”, “more than one way to make a journaling card”, “more than one way to make a tag”. I love that lined paper that your subbie sent you that she coffee stained, that’s brilliant, I see those books at the thrift stores all the time and I think I don’t really need that for anything, but if you coffee stain or tea stain or Kool-Aid stain them you’ve got a practically unlimited supply of journaling space for the backs of cards and tags. I’m going to try it and hope my pages don’t stick together. I have a problem when I stack coffee dying that my paper sticks together and then they tear, I think it was because I was using an unwashed pan and the coffee and tea got all sticky so I’m going to try it may be laying out on the lawn.
