Oh, wow! The crackle is my favorite too! Thank you for all the journal cover tutorials; I have been loving it. By the way, I got my package from Cinnamon T so promptly. Everything was packaged so beautifully and with such love and care. And I want to let you know how much I appreciate the way you addressed the mass shootings in the last video. I cried right along with you. Being kind, caring, empathetic, and mindful of others is how I wish all humans would live. Hugs to My Montana Lady.

TFS! I have a stack of canvass fabric. When my twin sons were young and started bowling, their coach worked for a company that made fabric and he brought me a bunch of canvass fabric. I did use some when I was doing acrylic painting, but now I will use the rest and make some journals.

I loved the patch on the canvas as soon as I saw it. Can't wait to see what you do with it. The gesso gives a great effect with the watered inks, although it seems to be a bit more difficult to get the color down. It reminds me of one time that I tried watercolors on gessoed canvas.

Great covers, Gayle! I really liked the bird one. A big bird fan as they have nests all around my home and it's so much fun to watch them nesting their young. I need to make a bird journal just so I can record their actions around here. Looks like you might need a box of medical vinyl gloves on hand for doing inking. They are thin and also things don't slip out of them. I used them all the time when I worked in a Chemical plant. And my hubby and I use them all the time for doing icky kind of work around the house. Though, I have always loved getting my hands messy. Even as a kid, I was the first one in the mud puddle squishing the mud between my fingers. Fun! I really like how you inked up the front of the canvas covers. Nice colors and I'm just a grungy effects kind of gal, so I'm with you on doing all the edges and things getting too bright. Thought the crackle effect on the one looked great, too. I was thinking that it all looked pretty good, then you put on the little napkin bird on the one. Oh, my gosh! I'm in love. So, adorably cute! And so simple, too. Simplicity always is the best! Can't wait to see another birdie on the other one! Well, have a great rest of your evening! Sue H.

I’m glad you do you. It kinda helps me be brave enough for me to be me. It takes courage to put yourself and your art out there. I have no plans to do anything on the scale you are. I’ll make journals for my use and maybe for my daughters. It’s crazy, but I actually feel a little afraid to express myself like it won’t be as pretty or clever. Paper craft is new to me. I'm watching and trying to pick out my favorite and it's a toss up between the cute birds or the more vintage rose one. That travel one is pretty cool to use for travel too. I'm working on my first cover like this as I listen and watch. I haven't used any of the distress inks, is there a shade between walnut and vintage photo? I had not thought of using canvas but I found a large canvas pad for painting on at a yard sale for a buck, I'm going to try it! Yea! I love that little bird! I love watching them in the birdbath and puddles when it rains. That cover came out so pretty, it almost has a camo feel to it and that patch on the front looks like a closure. I really like that crackle stamp. Enjoy your girls! God Bless.

I have been enjoying your journal cover series - Thank you. I also like how you do things your way. The great thing about junk journaling that I've learned from you is - "there are no rules." Also, I don't know if you are familiar with the great crafter Carol Duvall (she was on "The Home Show" and then had a show on HGTV). You remind me of her (which is a total compliment). @gayleagostinelli_ct5 жыл бұрын
Hi Julianne! Are you talking about scrapbooking paper cracking when you fold it? If so, wetting the fold just slightly really helps with that. On the 9 x 12 covers, I haven’t had any trouble with cracking, I think because the Mod Podge makes it flexible. You could always reinforce the inside of a cover too with Tyler or KraftTex to strengthen it. Hope that helps a little. ❤️
@Lissy4real5 жыл бұрын
I love LOVE the pink floral cover! I do have a question, and forgive me if this has been addressed before: Do the distress inks and oxides adhere well to a modpodged surface? I've tried this before and had issues with the ink rubbing off when the journal was handled. I'd appreciate your input. Thanks!
@gayleagostinelli_ct5 жыл бұрын
I imagine it would rub off if not dried really well. Heat setting it with a heat gun should help too. If you’re worried about it coming off, maybe distress first and Mod Podge after. ❤️
