Coming from the sportbike world, I picked up a 125cc (Papio SS, Styling has me😍😍) and honestly thebonly complaint I have is not being able to ride comfortably on highway. (Tops out at like 65MPH) In America its really hard to leave town without them. BUT. Just cruising around the neighborhood, taking the bike into smaller areas, or trails I wouldn't take the bike bikes on, and learning to stunt without risk of dying. Has honestly made the mini bike world just as, if not more fun than "Canyon Chasing". I can rip the whole trottle without breaking the speed limit. Teach my friends how to ride very easily without hurting them. Overall just a super fun bike, its honestly just a bicycle with a motor. I personally still need a bigger bike just for longer trips. But most people would have the time of their lives on a Grom/other 125cc.

I had 2 2022 Groms, one was abs (my sons) sons car broke down so we sold his to get an another car until I fixed his (2015 Ford Focus ST bad head) I sold mine to get the Trail 125 which is more dirt worthy and fisherman friendly. I’ve had probably had at least 50 plus bikes in my lifetime. I’ve never missed any of them the way I miss the Grom. Long story short, I’m in the midst of saving the money to get two 2025’s.

We've had several ZPros (Kasawaski's Grom) in this family (a dad and 3 adult boys who ride) and no matter how many times we sell them, we end up getting another in the near future. Maybe we should just keep one. They are awesomely fun!
@pmdinaz7 ай бұрын
My wife and I both bought a Z125, comparable to the Grom. We rode it here and there. She even had hers customized with rear sets and anodized the rims, footpegs, levers etc. It was fun, but there's some pretty serious limitations out on the open road that made them less fun if I'm being honest. If you live someplace with 30 mph roads, that people *_actually_* do the speed limit, I think they would be fine. Around here, speed limit signs are ignored as much as BMW owners and turn signal levers. We ended up selling them, but we did okay on that end too.

Dave, you are MOST DEFINITELY not out of your league there! Your humility is quite admirable, though. I laughed myself to tears when you shared about canceling your turn signal instead of honking the horn. I about fell out of my chair. Sounds like me on my Gold Wing trying to enable the cruise control only to find out over and over again that the starter doesn't engage while riding, but it also doesn't engage the cruise control. My buddy had a Grom. He's an engineer and tricked out his Grom to get the best speed and performance out of it. He got it to top out at 84 MPH, and I believe he did some suspension work on it as well. He sold it after taking on a new job, but I suspect he'll get another one. For now, he bought himself a new Suzuki GSX-8R and has already modded it. He also brought it down to Traxxion Dynamics to have the suspension upgraded as well. It's a sweet ride!

I was on the unrestricted mountain section with the Limiter on the back of the bike (Mrs Gears) and we were enjoying a leisurely ride up the mountain road (which is one-way at TT times) and I was passed on my left by a Honda Monkey and on the right by a Honda Grom. Both riders with their chins on the tank, grinning from ear to ear!!! I gave them an approving nod as they slowly went by and we toodled along. 😂👍 (Just for clarification, there were no other such incidents the 2nd time I went round the course, when Mrs Gears WASN'T on the back!) 😬👍 Slainte!!! 🏴

I LOVE racing minis and have raced a Z125 at the proving grounds and done the endurance! Racing minis is its own unique kind of good time in the same way that racing go karts is always a blast even if you are a big hypersport car guy. Depending on the config you can keep a 125 wide open for 3/4 of the proving grounds. That was a big aha moment for me and lead me to really examining how much I needed to let off throttle for certain turns on the big bike. Some turns need a little roll off, some need a lot but as they say in YCS "The throttle is a dimmer not a switch!" because there are a lot of turns that don't need roll off at all! There's a ton of nuance to that but it dropped my lap times a lot by looking at a track config and really critically asking how much do I need to roll off for this turn for this bike at this speed/gear/point in the rev range.

What are the benefits of lengthening the exhaust pipe ??
@CanyonChasers22 күн бұрын
Typically, more torque due to a phenomenon called scavenging. Basically one exhaust pulse helps pull the next exhaust pulse out because of a low pressure area in between pulses. Super cool stuff.

GREAT video! Groms are the perfect tool to fine tune riding skills. Their super light weight magnifies every control input and body weight adjustment, demanding you become a smooth rider. Those skills carry over to my other bikes on the street and track. Join the Grom forums and you will learn what essential mods you need for the best experience. Pre 2020 Grom with a big bore kit (180 CC kitaco neo) , aRacer ecu with wideband AFR, oil cooler, aftermarket intake and exhaust, Racing Bros suspension front and rear, sintered brake pads, BST wheels. Like an Ohvale that is street legal. I lead liter bikes on tight twisty mountain roads on my Grom. If I could only have one bike, ( and I have many including 400, 600, 1000cc class bikes plus an Energica) it would be the Grom.

I've live with 14 different bikes for over a year each, and probably ridden 70ish bikes in total, from 50cc scooters to roadkings to busa's. I've lived with a grom for nearly 6 years now. Once you're used to it, it kinda makes more sense. The horn is more intuitively placed in a panic, just hook up something a little more substantial, whilst the indicators take slightly more effort to operate which makes us aware of how we're indicating.
@stevenb73196 ай бұрын
It’s a great little bike. I have the new 4th Gen Grom that I chose over used ones since there was only a few hundred $ or ¥ difference. They sell out so quick. I can see the complaints about no top end being relevant in the US where there are wide open spaces with 70 mph speed limits. I happen to be in the perfect location for the grom where the max speed is 49 mph or 80 kph and it’s all twisty beautiful roads through jungles and on the coast. A grom in places like rural Texas it’s rough. For island living, I would be hard pressed to find a better bike.

in areas with a large motorcycle community the Grom makes more sense because of it's naturally goofy nature but where I am, basically a suburb of Toronto, there really isn't that large a group or culture of riding so when you do see one, you wave like you would any normal bike but you are not going to be invited to bike-nights and not going to be invited out on rides. I think the cb300r is just that much more of a full bike experience and will do highway speeds all day making it that much more practical while being lighter or weigh the same as most dual-sports.

Groms are very charming. But a lot of what you said also goes for the Hunter 350, which has a lot more power for not even twice the money.
