Love My Grom, and you hit a bunch of real good points on this one! However, we do 100-200 mile trips occasionally, and it's still super fun. 5-7 hour "Days' on the bike. Most fun bike I've owned in my whole life. Great "2nd" bike, and "mini bike fun" for sure. The power is perfect for what it is. A few mods, get your Tinker On, and it's a bit more fun. The constant talks/conversation with folks wanting to know about them get some getting used too. :) Probs, not a great "First bike". And agree for sure, Packs of Mini Motos are better. The old guy was right too! You can "bone out" through the grass, fields, and parking lots that other bikes won't do easily. I've put 14,000 miles on my Grom in about 18ish months, lots of back roads, Burn outs, Skids, and it "lives in the red line". We use our Rev Limiter as a Horn! :) So Fun! I have never been a "wrench" guy, and have done all the service, mods, and upgrades to my Grom myself. Oil ever 1000-1500 also. Did the Kitaco cover/ Spinner Delete. Got the DHMotor TB cam and Reflash, SO GOOD, Highly Recommended, great bang for your Mini Moto Bucks. :) Header with the stock muffler, The "Radiator tube" intake tube mod, with a UNI Airfilter (40 bux total) Re-Geared - 37t, With Speed Corrector, get the 12 Oclock Labs one for only $75.... LOL. :) and it'll do 60 mph easy now, pulls up the front easier, still tops out around 71mph with a tail wind, downhill, or Draft. :) Cheers Gromers!

Thanks for adding your own review, story and mod list! I like your mods! Couldn't agree more with all of your observations about your grom too. Thanks for taking the time to make this very informative video. I have one concern though, and it's about replacing the oil screen and spinner with the paper element filter. While it is much more convenient to access and simply change a paper filter, engines that come from the manufacturer with the screen/spinner oil cleaning system generally have high volume low pressure lubrication systems. Those engines typically have a roller bearing crankshaft and the oil pump is designed to "bathe" the bearings with lots of oil, instead of force feed a thin film of oil between the bearings and crankshaft journals of a plain bearing type engine. So, in essence, small roller bearing engines generally don't produce enough oil pressure to force contaminated oil through the tiny pores of a paper element filter. It might work for a while, but in the long term it could potentially shorten the lifespan of the engine.
@CTGromer3 жыл бұрын
I appreciate you looking out and the good explanation. Fortunately, the Kitaco kit comes with a more capable oil pump to combat the paper element. Mine's had no issues for 4,000 miles.

My wife is finally agreeing to let me get a motorcycle, I took her to a Honda dealership near us and they had a few groms and Navis, she said “you should get one of these, they’re small and they don’t look fast.” I mean I agree with her but what I was explaining to her is a grom would be a good starter bike, but not for where we live. We live in a small town of about 5,000 people and the nearest big city is about an hour away, and the only way to get to a big city are highways or long roads where speed limits are 55+ I love the grom I think they are cool but I’m going with the Royal Enfield Continental gt650, maybe I will get a grom as a second bike to putt around town 😂😂😂

Debating getting one. I wrecked a cbr last summer and been scared to ride again but I’m ready. This would make me feel better, but also idk if it would hold up for a 200 lb woman lol I always see cute things guys on them

Love the video! Only thing I can't agree with is the prices. At least here in CA, can't even find one less than $4k used and flogged to death...On a side note, do you think someone might be too old to ride a Grom? I see you said about the Grom groups but seems everyone is early college age. Other question I have is do you feel like there's much vibration or buzz in the handlebars?
@CTGromer4 жыл бұрын
Pricing is insane lately here in California, thats for sure. I'm 34 and there are some guys older than me in our group, there's some vibration in the handlebars, not too much.

I agree with you 100% I own 2019 Honda fury and a 2013 ninja sx 1000 I love to ride them. Enjoy them very much but I also own a 2018 grom I'm a OG guy 51 not young but not old. The.fury makes me feel gangster the ninja like Miguel Duhamel. Now my ground puts a smile on my face from ear to ear Makes me feel like 15 again On my Schwinn sting ray I can care less what people think or have to say Folks are always going to have their opinion you can't stop that but I also have mine Live life have fun to the fullest Someone Says It's a clown bike there right it is a clown bike .you go to the Circus and a clown makes you laugh and smile you have fun right like I said enjoy life live life have fun i love to grom 🎪🛵🛴🚲

Getting out of trouble probably means more getting out of a bad situation on the road. Like having enough grunt to get out of the way of a merging 18 wheeler. Not necessarily running from the police or whatever

17:36 this is wrong, the sensor not in the rear wheel. If that was the case than changing the the gearing wouldn't affect the speedometer reading. It's near the front sprocket.

My boy wants to sell his 2018 Grom, and since we're friends he said $2000. Should I take it? I've rode semi-auto dirt bikes and watched many many videos on how to properly use the clutch and everything. I'm a little hesitant though (obviously don't want to loop it haha) Also, maybe make a video on how to properly shift a Grom? I know it's common sense to most people, but I know there are others that don't really know either. Btw, have watched a ton of your videos the past few days and I commend the great content and very useful information!
@CTGromer4 жыл бұрын
Dude I really appreciate all the compliments about the content, I'm truly glad you're enjoying it! $2K for a 2018 grom is a steal in my book, even if its not in the best condition. I'll consider all the advice, thanks a lot commenting! For real though, grab that grom, you'll be glad you did.

@@CTGromer I bought it yesterday! $2000 and it was a matte grey 2018 with 2500 miles. It had the flush-mount blinkers, fender delete, red shorty levers, and he gave me a new back tire since the old one is pretty dull. I road 50 miles the first day in total haha, I love it and would make the same choice again

ah! this video was super helpful im a newbie into the world of motorcycling, but i have been doing research about getting my first bike :) i would prefer to get a naked bike over a sports bike because i am not ready to face death in a sportsbike lol, plus i have never ridden in my life before! i want a bike that is low in displacement, and a lot of youtube videos recommend the grom for a beginner :) im actually going to the dealership to check the bike out in person and i can't wait! any other advice i should consider?
@CTGromer3 жыл бұрын
I think you're well on your way, I totally agree that a naked style bike is a much easier bike to learn on. The grom is a great one, a CB300R is another good choice. My advice would be to ride as much as you can, build your skills, purposely practice fast and low speed turns, and make time to practice low speed maneuvers, emergency braking. Most importantly, keep your head on a swivel, look before you change lanes, and anticipate cars doing the worst thing possible all the time, and have a back up line ready incase they do. Good luck!
