I didn’t know that you were doing e-bike reviews. I have a Husqvarna e-MTB if you’re interested in borrowing it for a review.

Well done, mate. What you say, simply makes sense and works. I've been riding since I was 17 and now at the age of 62, I'm still watching and still learning. As an experienced rider, I tend to think I know most things but your videos have given me more 'aha, I see' moments than anywhere else on the internet!

So I ride a FJR1300 with a Michelin Crossclimate2 car tire on the back and a Dunlop Mutant rear motorcycle tire on the front (double darksiding), I am fine with my tires, but how do I stop OTHER people from being afraid of them? 🤣🤣🤣
@CanyonChasers10 сағат бұрын
We are all willing to accept different levels of risk. The reason why I'm afraid to run a car tire on a motorcycle wheel is the bead shapes are different, so the tire seats, but not as securely as I would want them to.

Why bother pushing the pins out to break the chain? Just use a cutting blade on the angle grinder and cut the chain.

Hello, I've never ridden on a motorcycle before. My msf is in two days. I have a stupid question though. Do I need to roll all the way off of the throttle to trail brake?
@CanyonChasers2 күн бұрын
MSF will tell you to never ever ever touch the brake in a corner - so this isn't something you're going to face - so just smile and nod. But to answer your question, we never overlap throttle and front brake. We roll off the throttle to the front brake.

@CanyonChasers thanks! I knew it was a stupid question, but not asking it would make me the stupid one.

The braking mistake that could cost you your life is believing that you should never brake in a corner.

@westcoast35954 күн бұрын
Even if you just rode that corner, never believe you know what’s there if you can’t see it. Run entrance wide. Before banking to the exit. Front braking is good idea. Like he said it’s a gentle thing. It’s a ride not a race.

when you go to lean and try to run the handle bars into the corner like you would when you are riding slow you are essentially negating your lean and there for going to go straight regardless of your lean.
@CanyonChasers4 күн бұрын
It's more complicated than that. Countersteer controls and manages lean. The handlebars have to turn into the corner in order for the motorcycle to actually change direction. Lean counteracts centripital force so the two wheeled vehicle can change direction without falling over. I go into this in great detail here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oGmtdpqhgLKlmdUsi=jAirkvPzhbMTYaBR

So pleased to have my "self discovered" trail braking technique approved by your channel and the legend Freddie Spencer himself. Unbelievable. You give me the confidence to work harder on it. After spending many years in the firearms community and seeing how many Fudds and purists there are there ("No one needs that! All you need is this! If you can't do this you need to find something else!" blah blah blah) I never thought I'd see so many of the same type of person in the motorcycle community, yet they're all over the place. Technology advances, lets embrace it. It makes riding more attractive to more people and more accessible.

Focus on a rider input for a turn. From the straight-line AUTO STEERED, balanced state, he MUST input an imbalance by moving some mass sideways (as in no hands riding) OR appying a downward force on the HB end, on the side of the chosen turn. This causes the MC frame to TILT (lean). The MC instantly steers itself toward the direction of the TILT and will return the MC to a verticle (balanced) state, UNLESS the rider continues the DOWNWARD force, causing a TURN. Take a riderless MC traveling in a straight line, add a 5 lb. weight to its left HB end and it will travel in a perpetual circular path. NOTICE: a steering away from the turn direction (counter-steer) NEVER happens. This is demonstrated on a MC using a handheld torque meter on the left HB end, at speed, he pushes UP, for a RIGHT turn and pulls DOWN, for a LEFT turn. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z5qwnGyNlrqBZrc

Currently the eclutch seems to be a bolt on that adds bulk and weight. When it can be designed into the clutch itself it will be good. Some quick shifters are calibrated for street.
@CanyonChasers9 күн бұрын
I think they said it was like 4.5 lbs. Thats not a lot of weight. I suspect future iterations may be more integrated.
@JosueCorella10 күн бұрын
I'm not sure of this advice is correct. I have downshifted mid corner as long as you don't dump the clutch you're fine. I rarely use the bront brake during cornering and mainly use back brake.

Hi Everyone, So we should use only front brakes and no rear brakes while cornering ? New to Riding. If any can answer or explain ?
@CanyonChasers10 күн бұрын
Our focus should be on our front brake. Most riders rely far too heavily on the rear brake. The rear brake is for stability. The front brake contorls our contact patch, our speed, our corner radius, our bikes geometry, etc. Become besties with your front brake and just use a little rear brake as needed.

All the twisty back roads here are constant sand worry. Brake or accelerate leaned over a little and it starts to slide pretty quick. So much to look out for here 😢.

Dont shoot here, but given that trail braking is also used in car motorsport, how does this definition become the most accurate for the term as a whole?
@CanyonChasers4 күн бұрын
I'm quite certain the term origninated with our four wheeled brethren. The problem we're facing in the two-wheel world is a lot of credible programs have invented their own definitions that are actually quite dangerous.

coming back to this again after a few years - as a fellow B group RC390 connoiseur, do you think it's just safer to bump to A, use predictable lines and let the big boys pass you on the straights? cos our corner speed is naturally a lot higher even if we're slower overall... just wondering what the safest group to be in is when we're mixing it with the big boys.
@CanyonChasers13 күн бұрын
This is a great question. And I think the answer depends on the track. We have some extremely fast riders on RC390's but our track is fast AF, so no matter how good the rider is, the speed differentials between the 200bhp bikes and the 390s is massive. But on a smaller, tighter, more technical track - yes, absolutely they'll get along just fine in A group.

@CanyonChasers13 күн бұрын
You know, i don't know how many miles we covered. It was insanely hot. And no, no overheating issues whatsoever. I joked when we first arrived that if we spent too much time on the big track we'd blow up the engines. Well, the next day we spent some time flogging them on the big track, and again, they were fantastic. WFO EVERYWHERE. And they just did it.

Does the bike stall if I slow it down in a high gear?
@CanyonChasers13 күн бұрын
Nope. It basically squeezes the clutch for you. If you try to start out in too high of a gear, say third or fourth, it'll automatically slip the guts out of the clutch until you are rolling again.
