Thanks for the knob alignment tip! On my CS-440 the largest capacitor interfered with the case when attaching the rotary switches.even though the capacitor leads were flat against the PCB. Not really enough room to lean them sideways either. I had to raise the board slightly and solder on the top of the switch pins. I swapped out some flexible silicon wires for the ones provided and made them slightly longer.

Nice project. Your soldering skills have improved quite a bit. As others have suggested, adding some sort of protected strain relief or rubber grommet would help the wires from getting chafed by the plastic case. My ancient Radio Shack combo resistor / capacitor substitution box still gets used quite a bit for designing and also troubleshooting circuits.

Awesome project. Something to consider is to add an Anderson Connector, or the connector of your choice, so to replace the wires that pass through the top. This way if you have a connector there vs the wires coming through, it might be a cleaner look and allow you to change wires anytime by simply detaching it. Cheers...

Without this video I’m not sure I’d have been able to figure out all the caps. Thank you! All the videos you’ve done in this series are great. That being said, unfortunately mine is not as straight and tidy as yours. It should work though.

Hey Karen! Awesome little project here. Any links to the resistance and capacitance boxes you could share with us?😊

This box seems to be very useful for one to determine which capacitor in the tone circuit of the electric guitar gives the best sound to one's ear. I would like to build one!

Hi Karen, could this caps sub box be used to check freq. rollover response for a speaker system ? J K

an astable 555 oscillator would have been better to show difference in capacitance in this situation.

I'm late to the channel, but this video reminded me of 4 (very specific) capacitors i found in an old stereo that i had (before i accidently blew all 4 of them while trying to change the fuse). The were 2 things i noticed about these things. 1. these suckers were almost the size of my palm. And 2. They were dummy capacitors. In any case 20 years later and i still have no clue what a dummy capacitor is. And by the way... yes that's exactly what was on those things. they were actually listed as dummy capacitors. So what the hell is a dummy capacitor?????

Wouldn't it make more sense to use nF for the right side since all the values are less than 1 uF?

bit silly of the manufacture to not add 2 more closer together holes between the resistor holes they have the space to do it. they could put the R num above and the C num below thus making a single pcb for both product.

It really made populating the caps a pain in the rear. If I'd had to do much more I would have made a jig for folding the leads down at the right width.
