The power factor term is "lagging", not "legging"

For any load, you will use a set amount of power to utilize it. Capacitors can help reduce the 'demand load' for those with demand meters.

In UK domestic meters only record real, not apparent power so adding PFC has no effect whatsoever on reducing electricity bills. PFC however is very relevant for industrial maximum demand supplies that are charged a penalty for a poor power factor as described in video.

I agree, but I think since one is not using power as efficiently for the applicable function, higher use of the device may be used e.g. refrigerator runs longer to get to the temperature set point.

In doing this, will you need a voltage regulator? To make sure that you dont destroy any components, parts or system when you're using a capacitor like this?

Hello, if you plan on experimenting with capacitors of any size please please be carefull. A capacitor can act as a battery to store a charge for "Quick-release" of current so getting a shock is very likely if you touch any terminal bare handed or with a tool. Even a radio capacitor can send you flying across a room if not properly discharged. Even veteran sparks get jolts when they least expect it. Don't get yourself killed to save a few bucks . Keep your electrical appliances clean and dry and they should pay for themselves with constant use. You will need a massive bank of industrial caps just to store power for a modest home. Let the "Grid" people take the pressure for keeping the Current constant, that's why we pay them a % for maintence.

I think this will ultimately reduce usage by some watts, because, if current is reduced, heat loss will be lesser

About mathematical language: India says it backward for multiplication and division. For example, he says at 10:01 "3 into 27.4" for 3 x 27.4 (three times 27.4) - this is normally said as "3 by 27.4". Then, I have noticed in many math videos they say, for example, "2 by 4" for 2 ÷ 4 (2 divided by 4, or 2 over 4, or 4 into 2). I don't see how that seems logical to them at all, and is very confusing.

Yes, if you operate large inductive motors and your energy supplier asks you to correct the phase angle. No, if you have an ordinary house and the energy supplier only counts the active power. You have to distinguish between inductive power factor and capacitive power factor. If you have an inductive power factor like in a factory, capacitors will help. But in households there is a capacitive power factor. A capacitor will only make it worse.

In most households, the reactive current is not measured at all and is virtually unpaid. In the household, large and small consumers are constantly being switched on and off. The power factor is constantly changing. How do you want to do the calculation then? In industry you have big motors or transformers. Its inductance can be measured and corrected capacitively.

so what the value of capacitor tha you will be connecting ? please note thqt it is a risk just connecting a capacitor in a service AC line . you could create a short circuit and could be safety hazard and could damage electrical system . It must be carefully studied by knowlegeable Electrical Engineer . It is really dangerous my friend . Can you show an actual video ?

Your calculation has problem, you want to find new power suply when add the cap. So you can not use 3450w for calculating new amps.

By improving power factor we can reduce the loss of power in the form of unnecessary heating. With the improved power factor we can reduce reactive power which is simply loss of power. You are silent on that aspect. Don't agree with your explanation.

Not possible! No penalty for domestic supply. Only for Industrial use PF comes into picture! You can’t fool all the people for all the time

I have a friend who does this at home. He has up to 3 capacitors. Depending on the load, which capacitor he uses depends on the load. He said that comparing the electricity bill results before and after the capacitor was installed, there was a change. Electricity bills have been reduced. Confused! 😁😁😁

Useless. Power factor keeps changing depending on what kind of equipment is powered. Are you going to measure it all the time and keep changing the value of the capacitor ?
