Wonderfully presented. I recall around 60 years back firing a gun like this at the fairground, rifle range, and I paid for 2 shots. The first shot knocked the bullseye out, and after I fired the second shot I thought I’d missed the target altogether; until the guy in charge said my second shot had gone though the same hole has the first. Wow! I thought, especially being just a lad back then. I so wish I had a gun like that now. Thanks for the memory 👍

Thank you for educating us with your informative video. I own an original Win-Mod 1906 takedown rifle, manufactured in 1912. It was originally my maternal grandfather's .22 rifle, now mine. I did lots of hunting small game with it in Montana USA while growing up. Thanks again, sir.

The rifle arrived today and I dialed in the scope just a couple hours ago kzbin.infoUgkxQt2uORDRfFOVSrO4idv4B90ThT6EOnEL . I haven’t shot with a scope in probably 25 years. The X on the left was my target. (the shot almost in the bullseye on the right X was my father in laws first shot after I made adjustments) The two shots circled are my first 2 shots. Then I brought it down - shot once. Then brought it over to the left. From there zeroed it in to dead center. This all was from 25 yards out. Follow instructions carefully when mounting the scope. So far I'm very happy with the purchase.

I love the old pumps. I have found that the rifling at the crown usually needs to be dressed up. Recutting the rifling at the crown really tightens the groups up. I've also made speed loaders that work great for packing ammo out to the field.

There is no 'disconnector' on those, so you can hold the trigger back and keep cycling the slide and it will fire every time the bolt goes into battery. Big Fun!

They are wonderful rifles, iconic in the US. That peep sight is very nice on it. I have the rifle in .22 short and .22WRF. An interesting contemporary of the 1890 is the Remington Model 12, a more complex piece but very nice. I don't think it was intended as a youth rifle, more a small game rifle to put meat on the table and as a target gun. Thank-you for reviewing this rifle, I know you will enjoy it for many years.

I have one in my cabinet. The old "corn shucker" or "gallery gun" was popular and as the the last name refers most shooting galleries which were popular back then used these rifles. That is why many are worn out. The fact that it takes down made it popular with back packers and canoist for a long time.

WRF is a bitch to find. Ironically it was a lot harder to find pre-internet, now we have options and a way to find it at least. I do wish there was a way to easily convert WRF to LR but there inst short of reaming and relining and changing the carrier and some other parts. More expensive than just dealing with the rarity of WRF.

I have always wanted a winchester pump .22, but just never got around to buying one. I have a neat chinese knock off of the browning designed .22 semiauto. I mainly these days use a Czech 452 bolt gun to kill the local grey squirrels since they rob my fruit and nut trees. I have so many other .22's that I do not shoot, that likely it does not make a good sense to buy another .22. I do have a unique Hungarian made pistol, a fromer stop pistol, but nothing else from that country. When it comes to owning guns the USA is still a great place and there is no registration in my state of Florida.

I find that with this rifle, versus the lever action, that this rifle will give me a shotgun mentality to the shooting technique incorporated , whilst with a lever gun, I will take an extra moment and incorporate a bolt action precision technique with a breathing technique for more accuracy, but at the same time, the pump action shotgun technique is also extremely accurate. Ruminate upon that....

No Zamak, no aluminum, no MiM, no polymer, just blued or case hardened steel and American walnut. An accurate replica would likely run well over $1K regardless of where it might be made today. Remember, though, an ounce of gold in those days was about $30. That tells us how severely the Treasury and the Federal Reserve have slowly swindled away the real value of the US dollar.
