I am a hat person and rarely leave the house without one on. Most of my felt fedoras are vintage and I have relatively high standards on quality and design. When it comes to Panamas and other straw hats, I've been very happy with my Capas Panama with a chcolate brown band that I have had for about 10 years now. I wear it very often in a semi-tropical environment and always have. It has aged very nicely, is breathable and proven surprisingly durable. I am lucky to have the wonderful Meyer the Hatter, a 100 year institution, in town and got it there. Respect the feather. It looks great sporting one and you can mix and match colors to suit the situation.

As I have gotten older and lost most of my hair, I have to more or less heavily spray the fine hairs on my head with hairspray to keep them smoothed down. Problem is, this leaves a buildup (over time) of gummy residue on my sweatbands (both leather and cloth). Do you know of a good way to clean this hairspray residue off of hat sweatbands?
