Bloodborne my favorite game of all time Is 30fps and some frame drops exist, yet gameplay is still super smooth and fun. Frame rate isn’t everything. Yeah optimization is important but as long as it isn’t awful it doesn’t ruin the game.

@@isaacdayton4962 The 30FPS thing is weird for me because all of their previous games with the RE engine run very well even on older hardware (my ancient I7 3770k paired with a GTX 1080 could do roughly 80FPS at 1440p high settings in RE Village) so the new consoles should be able to churn out way more than 30 unless DD2 has very hardware taxing new mechanics

Dragon's Dogma is a damned gauntlet once you hit Bitterblack Isle in earnest. Your ability to finish the game with a steady difficulty curve depends entirely on how you built your character. Because of how stat distribution works in Dragon's Dogma, you CAN'T be hopping around between classes without knowing what you're doing. Leveling up in one class gives you completely different stat bonuses than the another and those bonuses carry over when you swap classes. There are channels on KZbin dedicated to optimizing builds and doing so is the difference between suicide runs and a reasonable challenge. You can't just change your class anytime you want without scuttling your build. If you've been playing an assassin for half the game and decide you want to be a Magic Archer, you are handicapping yourself. I made multiple accounts on my 360 just so I could build different characters without ruining my stats. This was a known problem then and it's foolish on them to make that same mistake again.

@@Cindolintoe I disagree. It’s absolutely possible to play the game paying very little attention to stats and still have a good time with it. There are so many ways to make up for shortcomings your character may have that don’t involve constantly switching between the vocation you want to play and another with better stats for 100 levels, or grinding on wolves and oxen to maximize dp without accidentally leveling up the wrong vocation. It’s fine if you want to min max your character into stratospheric damage numbers, but I and many others get by just fine without doing that. I also really like that a character’s stats reflect what they’re most experienced with, it’s great from a roleplaying perspective. Again, I respect players that want to optimize everything, but I play the game to be immersed and I think that was the intent behind a lot of the gameplay systems in DD1. They’re definitely flawed, they could use a lot more refinement, but they’re not an accident or mistake.

Especially the PC version could have a mode where you could choose between using a on-line pawn system or a local system, without any problem. In my eyes it's just being lazy. And I think for the new game it's not too far fetched to suspect that they want to sell you more save slots. The whole DRM system is a dead give away. The old game did not needed DRM, so that the new game does have it, indicates (in my honest opinion) something fishy is going on.

From what I read, the only confirmation we have is on the single save slot. That was from the IGN Interview, while the 30 fps lock has no "source" besides "someone" said so... Basically that part is very unconfirmed... It also seems to contradict the IGN showcase videos that do NOT look like they are 30 fps "locked" and have been assumed by the community to be on console.

Dragon's Dogma 1 had one save slot. The game is designed in a way where it only makes snese once you're in there playing it. But yeah you're character can do any build at any time assuming you have the vocation and gear. So really its not that big of a deal. Everything else though I agree is an issue.

dragons dogma 1 had an obtuse leveling system that begged for multiple save slots. dragons dogma 2 has the exact same leveling system and still only one save slot, no second character for a different build, just one gimped slot unable to use half the classes in the game, or you spend your first playthrough following a balanced build forcing you to play a boring class for the majority of the game.

I hated that one single save slot with a passion. It prevents experimenting and makes all your decisions permanent without any way to roll back. I enjoyed the game, but I would have enjoyed it TONS more is there would have been multiple save slots... Anyway - I won't buy Dragons Dogma 2 anyway, because I hate DRM garbage. I don’t know where this idea that you need to make multiple characters comes from in this video. The first DD didn’t have multiple save files and if you made a new character it would overwrite your old character. The only reason you would want to make a new character is for character creation but they had vouchers for that so I don’t see how that’s a big deal. The 30 fps lock on “next gen” consoles is pathetic tho. Especially since they certainly can play the game at higher frame rates if the steam specs are correct. I don’t why companies keep doing that. I just hope the lock isn’t on pc.

I've played the first Dragon Dogma for well over 100 hrs and the reason for the one save file is that you can change your vocation at a set level, on the first it was level 10. So from Fighter to Mage, etc. Within the game, there are attributes from each vocation you learn that can help build your character to your playstyle. The Pawn (the character you make) also can change vocation but is limited to ( I think ) 5 or 6, if youve made a decent Pawn other people will use it in their game, and when it returns it may have new and better clothes and also have information on a place where another person has taken it. Loved that part of the game 🙂

One save really isn't an issue in a game like Dragon's Dogma 2, Dragon's Dogma/Dragon's Dogma:Dark Arisen worked completely fine on a one save system. (minor spoilers if you didn't play DD1/DD:DA! Also sorry for the long post, just trying to be as clear as possible!) The world is an endless loop, Capcom built NG+ into the story basically. Each loop resets everything in the world, but you as the player retain all the loot you've accumulated over your adventure as you try to break the loop. You're not even locked into choices you make through the story since once a new loop begins you can just do the stuff you didn't do the previous loop. The Arisen (you) and Pawn (your main ai companion) can be visually changed per loop or even changed mid-loop with the use of items. Vocations (classes) and skills can be changed at any time in game when at an inn on both the Arisen and pawn, along with the gear the Arisen and Pawn wear. Dragon's dogma doesn't function like your traditional RPG, there is no skill tree, and no level requirements for gear involved in game so you can just swap around freely with no issue (you'd just have to unlock/assign skills associated to the changed vocation). I get wanting to have multiple saves, but it just doesn't seem necessary here since the game gives more than enough freedom to play how you want to play in a single save.

The problem with 1 save is missing content you don't know about. For example in Dragons Dogma 1: if you don't do the side quest to rescue Quina from Witchwood (on the other side of the map) before you go to Gran Soren for the first time with the Hydra head (like the main mission encourages you to), then the quest "Witch Hunt" will never activate which means you'll never gain access to the Witchwood secret area which in turn means you'll get locked out of several other quests including the one to get the "Arisons Bond" wedding ring so you can choose your own beloved. In other words, neglecting to do a long and inconvenient side quest that's easy to miss at the beginning of the game can permanently screw up the entire romance system for the rest of the game so you get stuck with a randomly chosen romance partner at the end. Not being able to reload to a previous save meant I couldn't go back and do the stupid Quina quest after I arrived at Gran Soren and realised I missed her quest because of it.

Dragons Dogma was kind of mid compared to games like Moddable skyrim, oblivion, Kingdom Come Deliverance, Witcher 3, Fallout NV and Fallout 4. At least those games listed aside from Skyrim don't have DRM. But wait theres more. Capcom a fighting game company, instead of competing with companies known for their RPG games these companies CD Projekt Red, Warhorse Studios, Bethesda Game Studios who gave Capcom multiple wake up calls. Capcom instead pushes anti consumer fighting game practices into Dragons Dogma II and slap DRM on that bad boy and say yeah this is a good idea. Edit: FFS, Baldurs Gate 3 Capcom!

As someone who played the original game on a PS3, I can state that version was sub 30fps most of the time. Shocking when I look back but I loved that game and spent hundreds of hours playing it. The Steam specs were available 2 months ago as soon as pre-orders opened, this is not something new. Never pre-order and wait to see how it performs before handing over your money.

The first dragons dogma only had one save file as well I agree with the sediment though it shouldn’t be too much of a issue compared to performance which is a nightmare to think about because when it comes to dragons dogma lots of things can be happening at one time so it’s a bit important that way you don’t get attacked and stomped on because you were stuttering while a griffin snatched you up

Dragon's Dogma 1 is actually in my top 10 games I've ever played. I can still wait for them to either fix their crap and a price drop. I got Dragon's Dogma 1 on Steam for $20 last year. If they think games are "too expensive," then I can wait until they've dropped the price. I and pretty much everyone else on PC has a backlog longer than some legal documents. I pray to God almighty people start digging into those backlogs instead of picking up broken games.

I'm actively playing the first one now and I'm lvl 130 something pretty much pure assassin. If I wanted to play a magic character it'd be awful so to play as a magic character I have to start over to get proper stat gains. Having multiple save slots let's you actually experiment fully without being penalized for your previous choices. I was REALLY hoping they'd learn and improve things from the first game instead of doubling down on the problems

You can have unlimited save files on pc simply by copying your save file to another folder 📂. Imagine being dumb enough to only have one save file in your game and having Auto Sales overwrite that one save file. Do you have any idea how game-breaking this feature alone is going to be. If you get stuck in an area in your game is bugged out and you cannot complete a quest you are absolutely screwed and would have to start the game over from the beginning and that's just one example of hundreds I could think of that could be game-breaking

You can't do that on consoles anymore because PS5 doesn't let you copy PS5 save files to a USB storage device, and Xbox One/Xbox Series X/S never did let you do that. So they're stuck dealing with 30 FPS and lack of save slots entirely. Of course, this might be secretly a live service game that may counter this trick.

The game being 30fps is only a rumour tho. It’s something that got started on Reddit but it has no actual definitive proof behind it. For everyone complaining about the performance they have to realise that the gameplay we’ve been shown is on a version of them game that’s anywhere between 6-8 months old like 99% of games it’s never shown on the current build since there still doing tests on it. I don’t understand why people are panicking when the whole “30fps” argument is nothing but speculation, and speculation with no proof to boot.

I'm guessing the one character slot limit is due to pawns and the fact you can buy RC. Multiple save slots would mean you can make more than one pawn, and that would mean you could have multiple pawns in the rift at the same time and thus would be able to get more rc than they'd like. Either that or it's because it would make it harder for people to find your pawn through your username, or maybe it's some sort of technical limitation. Either way they could simply make it so only the last saved pawn gets sent to the rift (your pawn is only sent online whenever you sleep at an inn), but now that I think about it even if that were the case you'd still get RC from people that are currently using your previously sent pawn and haven't returned it yet, it was a common exploit in DDDA to get a shitton of RC whenever you made a new pawn in a new save if your pawn had been rented by multiple players and you hadn't sent it again since then, so the rewards would be transferred to your current new pawn.

About the creation of one slot for saves that was in the original game as well. And they did that I suspect. So you don't make multiple characters on purpose. So you can farm that currency that you get when you lend out your allies. The safe system, yes, you can complain about it. It can be done better by it's done that way on purpose. The class system you can change class mid game, which is a pretty basic standard from the previous game as well as the new game coming out. I understand it seems like you haven't played the previous game if I didn't. I would be complaining about the same thing because it's not a standard of Gaming But with that being said, those aren't really issues. That's just how the games design to be for specific reasons Now with the Performance issues that you've brought up That's far more concerning tldr You can change your Character's class mid game at nearly any point of the game Including your Personally made ally This series really thrives off of playing the previous one

lol the one character was a thing for the first one think its because of the pawn system which dont mind who really has a lot of time for multi characters on games like these but i do agree on the 30 fps problem also multi vocation/classes is for just changing on the fly cause you can play a warrior through the whole game and decide later switch to mage cause they use same pull to use moves theres only health and stamina and the pawns are mindless husks without the arison which is explained in the first game they just walk around the roads and cities and wont defend them selfs when attacked outside of your party they run or just die and there are reguler npcs. Pawns are just ment to be hired and thats it its clear you didnt play the first one.

The 30 fps part doesnt made sense they do say that you can run a 2080 ti at 4k for yeah 30 fps but they also list a regular 2080 which is what im guessing is the 1080p performance and the 2080 is about the same as a 3060 trading blows which is fine considering the games today want more, also they for some reason but the same exact additional note in the minimum specs and only changed the resolution so I think there was a mistype

Enigma Protector and Obsidium at the moment aren't exactly DRMs, more like anti-tampers since they're not managing any digital right, Denuvo is the true DRM here, which is the DRM Capcom used for every games they published. Denuvo implemented games rely on 3rd party DRM server to generate authorization tokens in order for the games to be launchable(forced online authorization) , limited offline play due to expirable tokens, limited installations (you can be block out of the games you purchased for no reason). DRMs are all cancers.

To play devil's advocate, Dragon's Dogma 2 is running the RE Engine, which was not built for open world games like DD2 is GOING to be. It is RE Engine's first truly open world game, so yeah, it's gonna be rough on consoles, because they had to literally upgrade their engine to make DD2. It's only the console nerds that are mad about it, too. It's not really Capcom we have to blame here. Consoles are designed with the cheapest possible technology while still being an upgrade over the last generation. And with how quickly technology picks up momentum, consoles are just starting to fizzle out, whether we like it or not. They will never keep up with what PC is capable of, and never have, because they are not built to last. They're built to hook you in and sell the next generation of console in a viscous cycle that can only really be broken by making the jump to PC. And even then you can argue that the same cycle exists in PC gaming, but not nearly as brutal as what consoles have ALWAYS dealt with. I understand that not everyone can afford the jump to PC, I couldn't for the longest time. But we do still have to understand that it's not ONLY Capcom to blame for this. 60 FPS on the PS5 and whatever is the current XBOX (seriously microsoft, get your naming scheme in order) may just not be possible with the scale of the game. Given that is HAS been stated that the game will feature no loading screens between overworld and dungeons, that is SERIOUSLY taxing. I'm not saying that there aren't ways they could improve the current gen consoles, like maybe adding loading gates to those versions so they don't have to load the entire world, including interiors, which again, supposedly will not feature loading screens to get into. But Itsuno seems a little overzealous with the lack of loading screens, even if it means condemning console players to 30 FPS. I think it would be wise for them to introduce loading gates to the console versions rather than doubling down on this, since we already know the pawns aren't going to be cross platform like they weren't in the first game, either. Does it put more work on the team? Yes. Would people have blown the entire issue out of proportion like they currently are? Most definitely, how dare loading screens exist on your newly purchased outdated hardware. But those are just my thoughts, I hope some of you can take all of that into consideration, as this game is absolutely going to be HUGE. Besides, it's not the only Capcom game locked at 30 FPS on current gen.

Problem is RTX 2080/3060TI (if you remove RTX capabilities leaving just rasterization) has about the same performance as a PS5/XSX, and all are going to output 30fps as you mentioned. So with the recommended specs, as long as you get exact same visuals and performance as a PS5, you can't complain on PC, as the hardware output is the same. You just need a better rig, as has always been the case. As indicated in my first line, you can also get a last-gen mid-end 3070 or a 2080Ti which have about the same perf as each other. Then you have RTX features like DLSS 2 which will blow you past PS5.

Please research the original game and understand Dragon's Dogma 2 is a 1:1 successor to Dragon's Dogma. It has a cult following for a reason, reviewers hated most aspects of the game you and other unfamiliar players most likely will too, but those who love the game, love it for those reasons. They are making this game for the audience that resonated with the original. End of the day, if you're that worried about your save file, just back it up after every session. Just to make it clear, OG Dragon's Dogma had a few On Disk DLC cosmetics but the game went above and beyond when they released the Dark Arisen expansion, giving you not only the expansion but they whole base game with added extras, prior cosmetic dlc and some lil' bonuses for existing players for less than half the price of a new title at the time or release. Anyone getting into Dragon's Dogma at the time of the expansion' were getting one hell of a deal. And I hope this trend continued when this game get it's expansion. Dark arisen was one of the very few games at a time of industry money pinching that actually gave you way more than you paid for.
