I love Starfierld. And the development of the player count on steam is incredibly good.... The drop in player count was typical for pure single plaer games and was slower than Elden Ring's. And other than many competing games Starfield launched in gamepass. Half of the players on PC play it through gamepass. 13+ million people played it in the first 4 months. Sarfield demolished the biggest and best organized hate-train in the history of gaming. 50% of the gaming urinalists and 90% of gaming youtubers hated against it for the most stupid reasons..... The haters still hang around in Starfield fangroups on Faceboook to spread negativity... nearly 9 months after release. Starfield Derangement Syndrom is real

​@@Xyler941. I think Minecraft is a great example of a popular title having the recognition it deserves. It's a simple premise that works for a lot of people. 2. Halo Infinite's multiplayer, nowadays, has far more content and balance tweaks than any Bungie game, even though I prefer H3 multiplayer. So it's fair to say the game is great after 3 years. The campaign is just ok though.

Man, I remember when Zero Dawn came out. Everyone who played it raved about how great its story and world were, so when it finally came to PC, I nabbed it so I could see what all the hype was about. What I found was one of the most watered down experiences ever. Boring characters, boring story, boring side quests. The gameplay consisted of watered down Witcher/ Monster Hunter combat, and watered down Uncharted/ Assassin's Creed climbing with a side of watered down Mass Effect dialogue as the cherry on top. I won't deny the game has great graphics or that the concept of robot dinosaurs isn't cool, but damn, the rest of this game felt so cookie cutter to me. No hate if you like this game, but it personally wasn't for me. The fact that Sony is trying to make this a pillar of Playstation exclusives kind of shows how much their direction has changed though. The PS1, 2 and 3 days had so many varied games among different genres whereas the last 10 years have consisted mostly of walking sims and padded out experiences to me. I wish we could get some of that old magic back.

It is, but I think they were trying to narrow it down to the Dark Souls trilogy as a comparison, and it still doesn't do their argument many favors. Even excluding Scholar of the first Sin edition and looking only at 1,2, and 3 sales, they're still higher in sales than both Horizon Games and they're not bundled with anything. If you included all the Souls Borne titles including Elden Ring, Horizon is comically dwarfed. Doesn't help both that both were releases a couple weeks before huge titles like Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild and then Elden Ring and no one even remembered they existed until the Game Awards. Also this argument that more copies sold means better quality never comes into play when they ignore games like Hi-Fi Rush. Hi-Fi Rush was free on Game pass or a mere $30 purchase and it outsold Forspoken, a $70 game. That would mean more than double the copies of Hi-Fi Rush were sold than Forspoken and people could get the game for free and instead paid. Yet Playstation Zealots said the game was trash. If we can count on anything from these fanboys, is they are consistently inconsistent

I think a lot of people are missing a pretty obvious point... The issue isn't whether horizon is good or not (honestly I'd say yes, its good, great even). The issue is that its sales numbers are whats being pointed at to prove its good and the falacy that popular = good. Im seeing a lot of minutia argurments but the major points all stand, the video even points out the major one right at the start, how many people actually finished the horizon games vs how many purchased them, well how many finished a dark souls, or bloodborne, or sekiro, or elden ring. Lets not forget the series has a reputation of gating it claiming its too hard and unfair. The issue isn't the game quality in either case, its the fact Sony are glomping onto a franchise and trying to oversaturate it.

Horizon is probably one of the worst overrated games that I have ever played. Everything felt so "safe" and derivative of literally every other open world game (and I played an finished both of them when they came out on PC). I have no idea how this game got so many awards when it came out (at least the first one). It's only shtick being the animals being robots, which for me, didn't "wow" me at all.

Horizon games are well programmed and easy play, but become a drag to finish. The Souls games can be frustrating and maddening, but you still want to play them to get good at the mechanics. They are a great experience start to finish and then you play them again with a different class and build. For me I played them all multiple times with all the classes. Whereas with most games, I don’t want to replay them at all.

I know I'm late to the party, but bringing up sales numbers that way is very petty and childish. Especially when one is in total sales worldwide, but the other is from all but one country. Which would immediately destroy the point that's very poorly attempted...

The reason why some people may not finish the games is because the combat is alot harder than is expected, especially HFW. HFW has some of the most complicated combat I ever played. Mind you, I've beaten some difficult games, games that others give up on like Sekiro, BloodBourne, DemonSouls and Lies of P. HFW difficultly comes from the sheer amount of enemy weaknesses you have to memorize, their attack patterns and crowd control. You also have to fully utilize your tools, weapon abilities and valor surges to their full potential. There's also the matter of using which weapon types for what enemies/circumstance and ammo conservation. So it comes as no surprise that some people consider it better than Dark Souls for it's difficulty alone. The only people who actually know about the difficulty of the Horizon games are the one's who played and beat the hardest difficulties. Still, I personally wouldn't put any Horizon even close to BloodBourne but the others, yeah. Also, why would Sony do a deal for lego Sly or Jack N Daxter if there are no new games. Horizon is a current ongoing franchise, it makes more logical sense to bring more people to it rather than to 2 dead franchises.

Got horizon with my ps4 in 2019, along with God of War and the last of us and I have finished TLOU and GoW several times and didn’t play it. I will, I just haven’t put 3 hours into the game yet. I assuming a few million people “bought” the game this way

I love both franchises, finished the souls trilogy, bloodborne and slowly playing Elden Ring. Finished both Horizon games and loved and would love to play them again when I get the time... BUT... Whoever says that Horizon is better than souls need to get themselves checked because that right there is the most insane and wrong take I have seen in YEARS. Horizon is great but Dark Souls is just so much better and you have to be blind or be a fanboy to think otherwise.

OOOh me! I like the gameplay really like the aspect of setting up traps and stalking your prey that would in most cases fuck you up if you went head on. However I have to say, I liked the first game more, the have added a lot more complexity to both the skills and upgrades and made it so... much... more... tedious, especially when you want to have your shit upgraded before the final showdown, which is where I am stuck now for about three weeks, because in order to upgrade my stuff I have to hunt the same thing over... and over... and over again and I really don't remember the first game being like that. I am kinda worried about all the stuff they are planning do with it, because I fear they will beat it into the ground with all that shit...

I like horizon for its setting, theres just something about the scifi robot infested lands with tribal society that clicks for me. The story i cant say much on as i haven't gotten far into it, but i definitely dont think its as good as dark souls or any of the other games fromsoftware has spawned from miyazakis great mind.

I bought the first one, liked the gameplay and world but didn't enjoy the characters at all then the story was just ok. Didn't really like it enough to buy the dlc so never played that or the sequel.

I do agree with everything you said in this video. I am not brain dead enough to think Horizon rivals Souls in any metric.... I am not a rabid fanboy of Horizon but i do enjoy it, you know like a rational person... that all said IDK what website/google has to say about the Platinum Requirements but it is not 50% of the game completion. I have Platinumed the game on PS4 and PC and the 2nd game i got 2 trophies away from on my ps4 and just started the grind on PC. To Plat Horizon Zero Dawn you are looking at roughly 70-120ish hours of gameplay and you have to beat the game 3 separate times. most of your progress carries over to NG+ and so on. In order to plat the game you need to 100% your first playthru. then your 2nd and 3rd playthru you can skip literally everything that isnt main story missions. that is the only way i could see someone justifying needing only 50% completion to get the plat. just wanted to point out the game does indeed require a 100% completion in at least one of your three total playthrus. each playthru will take about about 20-40 hours depending on if you are speed running it or not. Typically if you are 100% your first run thru it will be about 40-50 hours. then your 2nd and 3rd run thru you can make in about 20-40 since you dont have to do sidequests or any other activity (if you 100%'d the 1st run). ^almost everything i just applies to Forbidden West as well. that games requires at least 2 playthrus and one of the 2 you have to 100% while the other you can just skip everything.

Elden ring was literally my first dark souls game and I loved and beat it and now I’ve been playing and beating a lot more souls like game if I can beat elden ring as a newer player to a souls game there’s no excuse to people like this who complain about it being “difficult” like im sorry but it’s just a skill issue

I actually like the gameplay of Horizon--particularly Forbidden West--but the story of Zero Dawn was very derivative and I am not far enough in Forbidden West to comment on its story. Either way, Aloy as a character (particularly in FW) is not likeable or compelling. The gameplay is what has kept me playing.

Horizon-Like isnt a genre because the Horizon games are basically just following the Ubisoft formula that has been standard since Far Cry 3. So i guess if anything Horizon is a "UbisoftLike"? And yeah comparing Horizon to Dark Souls isn't even close lol. Dark Souls games actually keep my interest long enough for me to complete them.
