Evening GawA, I'm from Gauteng your koeksisters is the best. I've tried a couple of recipes and they didn't come out do nice. I made your recipe for the first time and I must compliment you it's first class. My family enjoyed them. I got 70 out of my batch the same ingredients the way you explained it. Keep up the good baking work. My next one I'm trying out is the jam tarts and your red cakes. I do bake as well, but it's nice trying something different. God bless

Yes, they do. Just take it out to defrost for an hour or so before syrup. If I'm in a hurry, I pop it in the microwave for a few seconds before I syrup.

We used to actually buy them from our neighbor(Mrs Davids) on a Sunday morning as well she used to made watermelon confeit, the best. I actually once did make these koeksisters myself and they weren't half bad. Dankie en totsiens.

I'm not a Muslim, but I would literally sell myself to get hold of these little jewels. I'm so crazy for them. Thank u Gawa gona try to make me and if it's to difficult then Sunday early, I'm off again with my "Bak" in hand, off to a nearby neighborhood where the smells in the road, make the kids laugh and play... 😋 Coz it's breakfast time!!

I was just going through your recipe again as I am getting ready to make it and I noticed that you said 20ml in the video but in the written recipe it says 1+1/2 tbsp - that would then be 22.5ml (15ml+7.5ml) . 20ml is 1 tsbp + 1 tsp …… I can’t remember what I did last time, I think I just followed your written recipe. - A just in case for you if it makes a difference.

@angelikamatheson5544 hi it doesn't make a difference I think in the video I said u can use more or less of the spices it's to your taste it's a very old video I don't really measure when making for myself but even if u use 2 tablespoons won't make a difference the only ingredient I would stick to 1 tablespoons is the ginger cause it's very strong

Wslm yes we all good Alghamdulilah can't complain and yes you can double your ingredients I usually get about 70 out of 1 batch or you can make 2 separate batches either should work,Jumua Mubarak to you and your family ❤️

Once fried only syrup what u eating freeze the rest if it's already syrup then pop in microwave for few seconds

U can make 2 individual batches at the same time but only shape the second batch after first batch is done frying. Just knock it down and shape

Do these came out with lots of airbubbles? I've always bought from this uncle in Burwood road that made the best koeksisters but since moving abroad I miss it and have tried few recipes... What does potatoe do in the koeksisters I've seen a few recipes with this in? Are these soft the next day as well or even hours later?

I never sold these, so I can't say, but u should work out the cost of your ingredients, your electricity, then you should be able to come to a price where u make a profit

The ingredients is in the description box method in the video,u have to measure your flour correctly if your dough is to stiff u will have dry hard koesisters it should be very soft

Simply delicious.. my mouth is watering so much now 🙈!I’m definitely going to try making these . Am I able to freeze these once fried and how long will they keep for? Also can I keep the syrup if I have left over or must I make a fresh batch each time ? Many thanks for sharing your baking skills with us. Sorry just to clarify Do I defrost for a couple of hours on kitchen counter or defrost in the fridge for couple of hours then syrup? This is probably a stupid question but I’ve never made these before so I want to make sure that I do it correctly x 🥰❤️

@@fillyc1511 we like to have these on Sunday morning for breakfast so I would just remove from freezer on Saturday night and let in sit on counter or if we have it for afternoon tea I will remove the morning and leave on counter

Mine came out very stiff... Almost like it was stale. And I just made it today.... What did I do wrong? Did I fry them too long? What's the trick to getting them pillow soft and to stay like that after a few hours.

Perhaps your dough was to stiff it should be a very soft dough after frying u will have a crisp outside but soft fluffy inside but after standing for a while they will become very soft it's not supposed to be stiff or hard, I think your dough was to stiff in the video u can see how soft my dough is, next time make sure your dough is very soft and don't knead to much,after adding all your ingredients it should be soft and sticking to your hands then add some oil to your hands and rub the oil over the dough,also try to watch the entire video to see the texture of the dough before and after frying.

Perhaps your dough was too stiff it should be very soft, kinda stick to your fingers as u can see in the video then just rub it with oil,koesisters doesn't need kneading that's all I can think of,why it's dry in the inside,if u read the comments everyone that made it didn't have that problem.
