In one of the most surprising, refreshing and impactive talks ever seen on the Heavy Chef stage, Cape Town's latest hip hop phenom, YoungstaCPT, presents his hypothesis on why it is so challenging for creative entrepreneurs to succeed out of South Africa. YoungstaCPT, otherwise known as Riyadh Roberts, spoke at the first Heavy Chef 'Raw' Session in Khayelitsha, alongside several other legends of South African creativity. YoungstaCPT explained his journey succinctly: "Instead of knocking on the doors of record labels, I opened my own. Instead of buying expensive clothing labels, I created my own label," he said. Judging from the audience reaction to his speech, the feeling is shared.
