WOW !!! Thanks heaps for this. The Leyland Bros " Off the Beaten Track " movies were certainly what got me going exploring. Their early stuff like this though is so hard to come across, it's a shame that it seems locked away these days. True pioneers and real adventure.

What I find amazing is I've watched quite a few of the videos from the Leyland Brothers and everyone carry's on about expensive fit outs, pricey winches etc. We adventure with 2 hand winches, recovery boards and common sense in attacking tracks. We've gone places you'd never believe in our modified brake lock differential Holden AWD Wagons you'd never believe possible, only people we meet on our travels truly know how amazing it is when they see it with their own eyes. We're back at basics and Leyland Brothers really show in many of the videos available on KZbin exactly how it can be done. 👌

When the men were men, and over the top "health & safety" was not invented. Such a relaxing film for couch explorers like me :). Respect!

We used to watch these when we were kids, pioneering days back then. Its amazing what they accomplished without the luxuries we have to day with winches on most vehicles and diff locks. Would have been bloody awesome.

Leeches can literally be a pain. Back in the day, the best thing to wear to prevent the buggers getting at you is womans tights (yes, pantyhose). Nowadays there are things called ''leech socks'' which reduce the amount you collect as you go along, but smaller leeches can still get through the material. Tights/pantyhose have a very tiny weave, and so despite the leeches sticking, they are much easier to get off. Socks can only go knee high...but womans tights go right up with an elastic waistband. Doesn't stop them on your arms or face, but it's yer feet and legs that pick up the majority of them. (You could wear tights over your head, covering your face (and look like a bank robber), but I've never gone that far. I shudder at the thought of a leech getting under my eyelid or attaching to the eye itself. So - if you are out walking through rainforest or crossing wet leech infested areas, always carry numerous pairs of womans tights/pantyhose in your kit (they rip/tear easily). They take up almost no room at all and can help keep your blood where it belongs: inside your body, and not in the stomach of a leech.
