So now anyone with cr18p axles can get these axles shafts. Now being drilled to 1.5mm pins. Thats where the driveline swap in the older models comes from. Glad to see they listened to the audience on this one
@2strokeboys19115 сағат бұрын
Also the rig has a transmission with multiple gears vs your simpler scx24 style trans. Gears need proper mesh to be smooth which means you’ll need play between every gear. The more gear you have = more play/slop and there’s no avoiding that 👍

Awesome video! Got me wanting to order one myself! Cool to see the little man having a blast with you too!

Sweet review. Looks like the indoor course is ready for a redo. That foam is looing worked. Hit me up if you need some pro-tips if you revamp it.

I used krylon granite textured spray paint on my home course and it works awesome. Feels just like rock on the spray foam and plaster cloth. Love your course. You got me into micro crawling. Keep up the awesome content.

That was an awesome run. I have just done a fully built Scx24 and this looks like it could hold it’s own on a follow the leader run.

I just purchased the red & black rig...love the FREE shipping. VERY capable rig. Thanx for the vid...

I always thought the ‘p’ in cr18p stood for pro😂 you learn something every day. This looks incredibly impressive

Bless you boys for braving the cold! We got a bit more snow in Boston than you did. The woods are blanketed. I'd like to see a deeper dive comparing this to the Evo. My questions being mostly focused on the transmissions, chassis, servo, etc. This chassis has an angled skid, but is it the same chassis as Evo? I fell in love with the looks of the Evo, but then Redcat came out with the Ascent 18 and took all my money. This model does have a toyish look to it. If I got one I'd have to buy an Evo body for it, or put an IR60 / WTmicro body on it. The tires look great, but those wheels have got to go! Anyhow, I'll be back out once the temps head north of 40... LOL Keep warm out there!

Wow very impressive. I like the new CR18P it crush your indoor course on the 1st run.

This or Ascent 18 with brushless upgrade?
@NIKITARYZHOV12 сағат бұрын
Wondering the same
@CapeCrawlers10 сағат бұрын
I would choose this. Better chassis layout, metal geared transmission with proper gearing, underdrive already installed. Those would all be additional add ons for the ascent. BUT you are going to be very limited with aftermarket support for this truck
@77surefire9 сағат бұрын
@@CapeCrawlers thanks, reply from the legend himself!
@17madracki177 сағат бұрын
I have both here on our indoor course and the Evo is by far more capable. Only plus to the assent is tons of aftermarket support. I haven't seen much for the Evo. And we have the old pro 2 speed. I can't wait to try this new fusion version.
@77surefire5 сағат бұрын
@@17madracki17 thanks for the information. I was really close to pulling the trigger on the Redcat last weekend but I'm glad I waited. Going the Hobby plus route now, had no idea this was coming out. I think it would look great on some Injora 1.3" rims and their 70mm Cling On tires since they would actually be appropriately sized for this crawler. Cheers 🍻

The cr18p platform is good. But the lack of aftermarket is a killer. It sucks to not have metal links or driveshafts
@Rc_Alex_7618 сағат бұрын
There's rcawd metal links
@XtrmTJ9718 сағат бұрын
RCAWD has all kinds of hop ups for the CR18P. Also FMS uses alot of the same parts, so there's another source.
@dougnicholson832518 сағат бұрын
There are metal links. Metal axle housings, metal driveshafts, brass portals, full bearing kit, metal servo mount and steering linkage and portal OD gears all available, have all those installed on mine.

Are those louise tires on the ax24?
@jimbo420318 сағат бұрын
I like everything about it but the body clips , but I want one 😊
@TakuroSpirit7716 сағат бұрын
I agree, clips are annoying and outdated when there's better options out there like magnets and (sometimes) velcro
@jimbo420316 сағат бұрын
@TakuroSpirit77 yes Velcro works good on a lightweight lexan body
@MrLenzotik6 сағат бұрын
I wonder why they didn't just swap the venom for the micro komodo. Then, the other upgrades. Bluetooth tuning is the way to go imo.

Not sure how or why but this is the first video I have heard what sounds like an echo or hall effect in the audio
@CapeCrawlers10 сағат бұрын
I accidentally hit the echo function on my mic! You’ll notice it’s fixed around the performance testing part
@mylesbahri698716 сағат бұрын
Will you be doing a video on how to get rid of the slop in the drivetrain??
@RCfanAddict16 сағат бұрын
@mylesbahri6987 There's no way to. Every set of gears and pins you have you will get slop. You can shim some of it but there will always be some
@mylesbahri698715 сағат бұрын
@RCfanAddict I have the Evo pro and it has so much slop that it's my least favorite rig to drive so it just sits there looking good... 😢 I like to dive very technical terrain and the slop just takes the fun outta it. I wish they would address the issue, because if they did I'd definitely be making another purchase.
@RCfanAddict15 сағат бұрын
@mylesbahri6987 If you notice with stock plastic hexes will snap onto the pins and stay on by themselves but when you install aftermarket hexes they slide on and off easily which those tolerances just created slop
@mylesbahri698714 сағат бұрын
@RCfanAddict I did replace those with the plastic ones as well as packed the portal boxes with red n tacky. That helped control the slop a ton, but there is still lots of play.

@AirGunner-ou1co17 сағат бұрын
@@RCfanAddict Very edgy of you but do you care to explain why?
@RCfanAddict17 сағат бұрын
@AirGunner-ou1co Bottom links on skid hang below it and even worse with aftermarket links. This model has angled skid with straight links and it's capability are at its max outta the box.

I would love to see a head to head between this and your flagship gladiator. I know the price is way off but so are the looks. This thing doesn't look relistic to me at all... Not even like look like a truggiy.... its just ugly from a scale perspective. But man the performance! Good job on the video!

Hey man I was wondering if you can help me with an issue or if someone if the comments can help me… so I got the INJORA RC Transmitter 2.4GHz 6CH Controler and Receiver with Gyro Remote Inside Receiver and the INJORA MB100-R80 20A Brushed Mini ESC. So I plugged in my EMAX servo and it instantly started humming and sounded like it was grinding. Now it doesn't move. I think I burned it up?... the other thing was that if I move the receiver around it would drive the rig back and forth and turn the steering which ever way I moved it. Any thoughts? And suggestions to do or replace?
@Griffin28317 сағат бұрын
I still think the brushed Evo Pro is a better deal if you can scope it up on sale for sub $100.

Hi i am looking to buy a scx24 i was looking at the gladiator but now i can buy a c10 for $90 with a few upgrades is it worth it
@royrodgers329616 сағат бұрын
No absolutely not. The motor hasn’t changed and it’s completely trash, so is the servo. You’d be much better off with a Redcat ascent18 or one of these puppies. At least you’ll have something that doesn’t need upgrading out of the box
@matthewpeters8514 сағат бұрын
Scx24’s are a money pit. Anybody that says any different just wants you to suffer like they have! Unless you don’t care about crawling/climbing capabilities and performance, buy anything else but a scx24. Trx4m’s pretty much fall in the same category, money pits. The red cat ascents/scouts are great, any of the hobby plus evo’s are great, all the hobby plus/furitek mashups have been good, FMS fcx24/fcx18 are great
@flat-out14 сағат бұрын
I'm still waiting for Hobbywing to make a Fusion for the 1/24 scale rigs like my SCX24 and Meus MB24. Btw does anyone have the UCX2405 PRO by UdiRC? Any one reviews it? I've got one see my shorts in my channel.

I do find it funny how the big name companies can’t produce stock rigs that good and if they do they are ridiculous priced. Why.. just why?
@TheLilhulk111112 сағат бұрын
I think the fluorescent colors are just kinda childish, but the overall rig is pretty cool especially for $190
@CapeCrawlers10 сағат бұрын
I think different wheels will help a lot
@henrycruz45cal6 сағат бұрын
Sure but why should we have to buy new wheels when all they had to do is keep it real and not childish.
@77surefire4 сағат бұрын
@@henrycruz45calwhich serious hobbiest buys any mini crawler and doesn't immediately upgrade the wheels and tires? Most tires are crap that come OEM, these tires actually look pretty decent. I can't think of a more capable RTR mini, I'm sure they are trying to keep costs down and maximize bang for buck. I'm not a fan of the rims either but I won't complain since I immediately plan to swap them. You're getting a 3S brushless system with metal drivetrain and this capability for under $200, great deal.
@soulis100018 сағат бұрын
Capable truck for sure, dont realy like the rims though, they look cheap.
@Griffin28317 сағат бұрын
I’d argue that anybody that buys a performance rig like this is going to change wheels/tires almost immediately.
@soulis100014 сағат бұрын
@@Griffin283 Thats true, it was the only negative that came to mind.
@Griffin28314 сағат бұрын
@@soulis1000 definitely agree with you on the toy look though. But they’d be off the rig before I even plugged in the battery the first time!
@XtrmTJ9711 сағат бұрын
Until they address the "slop" issue, I'm not buying one. I have the CR18P Evo Pro Rock Lizard. I've added every hope up available and it's ok, but the drive train "slop" just kills it. I really like all the upgrades/changes to this platform, but the "slop" kills the deal for me. 😢
