It isn't Christmas in my house until Hans Gruber falls from the top of the Nakatomi building. 😎 🎄 Fun Fact: Alan Rickman nearly passed up the role of Hans Gruber, which ended up being his first film role. He had only arrived in Hollywood two days earlier and was appalled by the idea of his first role being the villain in an action film. To a degree, Rickman was right to be concerned considering his performance as Hans Gruber was so hailed that the actor had to struggle being typecast as a player of villains for much of his career.

I don’t think you realize this, but you deserve a lot more subscription from people to watch your videos, because your actual first time watching these films are completely genuine in my eyes. The fact that there are not enough people subscribed to your channel is a disservice to not only you but to make your channel grow where you can create even better shows and also have better commentary as well. I believe in you so much and I’m just a stupid white guy who just watches your channel because I love the fact that you have the same kind of love and care when it comes to science-fiction and also other random action movies or any other movies out there that should be watched by everyone. I believe you should at least have over 1 million subscribers at this point it’s just simply because of the fact that you are 100% the genuine article when it comes to having the first time response in review over a movie. And everything you’ve said so far from every single thing I’ve watched over the last two weeks which has been way more than at least 50 episodes, I completely 100% agree with you about how amazing they really are. I think the 80s sci-fi genre was amazing, and a lot of 90s and 80s action films were also amazing as well. So I won hundred percent support you in your endeavor to make aware that Americans out there need to watch films for the very first time because a lot of the new stuff that’s coming out right now just completely sucks ass compared to the past that is made amazing movies. We need more retro action directors to step out of the mold and not pander to anyone but make movies entertaining again! Not to make them socially justice worthy for the small majority who doesn’t even care to spend the money to watch the movie, we need to have people out there to appreciate the movies that are being made that actually are in good quality and action and science fiction. But it’s so sad that the majority of the MCU right now is pandering to those who don’t even watch the movies. And the fact that you’re out here basically telling everyone else you’re missing out on all movies is completely honest and truthful because these are some of the best movies you will ever watch from the past. When it comes to everyone else trying to watch the new stuff that doesn’t hurt home at all to anyone’s heart, and doesn’t do anything for the audience and it doesn’t hold a candle to the actual sunlight when it comes to these classics you are presenting and watching for the rest of the world to be entertained by. And all I have to say is, I love you big time brother! I wish I could watch these movies with you, because I get so entertained at watching anyone else having a good time watching a movie with just a bucket of popcorn and some wonderful soda, and just enjoying it for what it is. When it comes to everyone else out there trying to pander to those who don’t matter, it’s like not having popcorn not being able to have a hotdog or even having soda because according to them, all that stuff is evil and on top of it going to the theater will make you sick of COVID-19. This is exactly why you are important and also substantial enough that you deserve a very large group of people to watch your reactions because even though there might be people who have not seen these movies or have, which I have seen all of them already. I enjoy watching someone not see them for the very first time and just be utterly surprised over what was made back in the past versus what’s happening now. Have a good night!

Everyone despises Ellis, and rightfully so, but you got to give the actor credit. He plays smarmy sleazeball to perfection from the first moment you see him with his mannerisms before he even opens his mouth, you hate him. And the hatred just keeps growing. Perfect casting all round in this gem of a movie. Merry Christmas, ho ho ho.

I saw this at the theater on opening night. We were blown away. It was just that much bigger and better on the big screen. And remember, in today's world, thirty years of movies have borrowed from it. Back then, it was exceptionally fresh and original. It surprised everyone. As you said, we were accustomed to Arnold and Stallone as action heroes. Given their muscularity, they were almost comic book characters. Bruce Willis came out of nowhere as the everyman action hero. In fact, when previews first came out, a lot of people said, "Bruce Willis from the TV show Moonlighting? He's a comedian. He's not an action star." Then we all saw the movie, and the rest is history.

Die Hard is the 80s action movie in its perfect form. It checks the boxes of the 80s actioner with graphic violence, a little gratuitous nudity, a pivotal moment in slo-mo. But the plot and writing are much more sophisticated. The hero is a sensitive everyman. And the overall production is first class without that cheapness (best word I can think of) that the typical 80s action movie has.

@brandonkays30053 жыл бұрын
@@Kaefer1973 i personally think die hard 4 is kind of underrated. it certainly isn't a bad movie by any stretch, i think most of the bad reputation came from the fact that it was rated pg-13 and that made a lot of people think they intentionally toned down the violence to try to sell more tickets. valid criticism, but i honestly don't feel like the movie suffers in any substantial way from it. it probably hasn't aged that well compared to die hard 1 and 3 (which are timeless, in my opinion), but i still think it's worth watching way more than die hard 2.

Bruce was also the studio's last choice for John. At the time Willis was an actor in a soap opera. But when Arnold, Clint, Sylvester, and even Steven turned them down the role was pitched to Willis. Not only that but Willis still had a contract on the soap opera so he had to shoot that during the day and Die Hard at night, usually getting as little as an hour or 2 of sleep a day. "Why is it always the police chief that's the most incompetent out of everybody?" This is actually one of the most realistic parts of this movie and others like it. The hierarchy of police departments is made up not of cops who do a good job, but cops who are good at politics and self-promotion. ("All of the credentials and none of the qualifications.") They usually harbor resentment toward cops that are better than them - which is just about everybody junior to them. The larger the city, the more "politically correct" the senior officers are. As much of an obnoxious incompetent ass as that character was, he still had a couple of moments where he was my hero. The second most realistic part of the movie was when they were watching Hans falling and Robinson says "Oh God, I hope that's not a hostage." We all feel for you at that moment, Dwayne. And of course the comment that they're gonna need some new FBI guys.

Lots of subtle things I love about this movie; I tried making a video about it but it got blocked. The one thing I loved above all was that it was Ellis' watch that almost got Holly dragged down to her doom. To me that symbolized her willingness to sell out her family and her marriage for her corporate career ("I've got my eye on his private bathroom") and that John - the very man she abandoned - had to save her. So much subtlety in 80s movies missing from today's cinema.

This is a Christmas movie not just because it takes place on Christmas Eve, but because the movie is actually quite hopeful. You've got a reluctant hero in John McClane overcoming a mountain of adversity with resilience and smarts to save the day and his wife. And that's what also sets Die Hard apart from the other action movies of its decade. McClane isn't the macho muscle head running in guns ablazing with unlimited ammo. He's just a cop who finds himself in a dire situation, and he's the only one in any kind of a position to do anything about it. He knows he's outmanned and outgunned, so his only option is to fight a guerilla war, retreating and hiding because that's the only way he can survive and get the upper hand.

At Christmas you have to watch Love Actually before watching Die Hard, so you see Alan Rickman getting his just deserts.

Perfect is the right word. Best action movie of all time. Willis was at its charming best as far as emotion, humour, etc...a real human going against overwhelming odds. This was a game changer cause all the heroes at the time were invincible like Arnold, Sly, etc....
