The crazy thing about this movie is that Harry loves to tango. He would love to tango with Helen, but it is known he loves to tango so sharing his true passion for dance with his wife who would love it is something he can never do because it would blow his cover. If you watch closely, you will se this is the main story arc.

I totally agree with your point about bringing back real stunts. You can never fake real stunt work with CGI and make it look believable. However, True Lies represents an era of action filmmaking that is (unfortunately) long gone. This level of stunt work, miniature effects, and pyrotechnics are just not seen anymore. Hollywood will not take those risks when they can just play it safe with CGI. Don't take my word for it. I recently watched a live stream of GoldenEye with the film's director (Martin Campbell), and he pretty much said the same thing.

@kevinburton3948

So Arnold was on a high with a string of hits through the 80s and early 90s. He made his first real comedy film "Twins" with Danny DeVito in 1988 and decided to alternate between action films and comedy films... Unitl his first major flop in 1993 (I won't give away the title in case you want to watch it so you're not biased going in). It was panned by critics and moviegoers as well as being hurt by the first Jurassic Park film which was released at the same time. Many thought this was the beginning of the end for Arnold's career. And then he made True Lies. Arnold was definitely back! And with James Cameron directing they could do no wrong! This movie reestablished Arnold's winning track record with the perfect balance of action, drama and comedy! Aside from the main cast, Bill Paxton steals the show as the sleazy salesman- this is one of my favourite roles of his. Bit of trivia- the bridge being blown up was miniatures as well as the harrier jets for that scene. The voice of the pilot who asks if "the missiles are going to set off the nukes" is actually director James Cameron. The close up shot of Jamie Lee Curtis hanging onto Arnold's hand, hanging from the helicopter was a real stunt she preformed herself!

Interesting fun fact, but Arnold almost died for real when filming this movie. During the horse chase scenes, there was the roof they filmed on top of for that sequence where he hangs by the reins in the movie due the horse not willing to make the jump in the movie. That actually wasn't the stunt but it was the building that almost ended his life. During one take, the horse actually panicked when it was about to run near the edge of the building. Arnold managed to see this coming and was able to dismount and jump off the horse into the safety cushions on the set. If he had stayed on longer while the horse really did continue freaking out, he would have actually been bucked off the roof of the building.

dude i loved that you put this tied with T2 because so many people get asked that question and they are all like" oh Terminator 2 judgement day hands down" as Arnolds best movie but this movie was so awesome!!! It was big at the box office in 94. Im just surprised that many people dont talk about it more!!!

One of Arnold's earlier movies, a comedy, is "Twins" with Danny Devito. If you want to see how different Arnold can act from a Terminator - watch it!

That was really Jamie hanging from that helicopter in case you didn't know - no CGI. She presented at the Oscars that year and entered the stage by being lowered from a helicopter.

5:45 It all goes back to Nick Fury whose first animated appearance in X-Men episode The Time Fugitives preceded the release of this movie by seven months.but this movie was released four years before David Hasselhoff played him in the first ever "Nick Fury" movie. Nick Fury used to be a White guy but Samuel Jackson just carries the character so well that nobody cares.

This is Arnold’s best movie. Action, comedy, suspense, stunts. Directed by James Cameron. And he’s even riding a horses like he did in Conan. Lots of variety with his acting also.

I always thought that Eraser (1996) makes for a good double feature w/ this movie due to Arnie playing a special agent in both.

Unfortunately one of the stunt coordinators in this movie was a mega creep. When Eliza Dushku (who was 14 at the time) turned down his advances, she "accidentally" got injured on set pretty severely - broken ribs if I remember correctly. :/

Did you know this is actually a remake? The original French movie is La Totale. Same concept and the Uzi shooting everyone down the stairs is directly from that one, as well as other moments.

True Lies to me is the best Action Comedy out there. It's smart, its unique , it's funny but doesn't try to be too funny. It's a perfect movie to me that really doesn't get enough recognition.

Awesome review. You should see her in Perfect with John Travolta about the fitness clubs of the 80's. Its story follows journalist Adam Lawrence, who is assigned to interview a successful entrepreneur accused of dealing drugs. He is then assigned to cover a second story and decides to do an exposé on fitness clubs, where he meets an aerobics instructor named Jessie Wilson, who does not have a great deal of trust in journalists. It stars John Travolta, Jamie Lee Curtis, Anne De Salvo, Marilu Henner, Laraine Newman, Matthew Reed, and Jann Wenner.
