I just realized something Ben has essentially adopted Eddie Brock’s mindset when he first became Venom. He’s avoiding responsibility and accountability for how messed up his life has become thanks to his own choices. He’s taking the easy way out by blaming Peter. I hope that little tidbit gets brought up once Venom gets involved in Dark Web. Janine’s behavior seems completely out character from the very little I know about her. Hopefully, she’s just under the influence of something ( besides the goblin Queen, I mean). This was a weird issue for sure. It felt longer than Average, and yet, also felt like nothing happened that was substantial. I miss the days when Spidey could just be Spidey without multiple event after event storylines.

I would’ve preferred an event where Peter gets his own Dark Multiverse and by extension the Marvel Universe than this story because when I heard Dark Web I immediately thought is had something to do with an evil Web of Life and Destiny threatening the main Marvel multiverse. It would have challenged Peter mentally like never before while also making the people of the Marvel universe see him in a whole new terrifying light than just a jokester who doesn’t know when to shut up. Also before any of you say that it would have been a rip-off DC, Marvel and DC have been doing that to each other for years so why stop now.

Zeb Wells has said that there’s no plans for Kaine going forward. They don’t know what to do with him. Plus, he’s never called himself “ Spider-Man “ so you couldn’t do the beyond storyline with him. Nor would he become Chasm because Peter’s memories and sense of heroism are annoyances to him anyway. He’s always saying how he’d be happier if he didn’t have Peter’s influence within him.

I feel like the premise is almost there: maybe if they showed that Ben is constantly losing his memories and getting them mixed & confused; leaving Janine because he just doesn't remember her right, his memories of her mixing with the other "redheaded women for ben to date that aren't Mary Jane" from the 90's Clone Saga so they all became a jumbled mess in his mind and he believes Madelyn Pryor is Janine while she just uses him to be her general until she gets overthrown by Ben so he leads the army on New York and Peter has to be the one to help Ben when no one else can or wants to: that could've been a good way about going with this in some way maybe

I like it, it gives bens situation more meaning beyond, “my life sucks now, so I’m blaming it on you Peter”, it also gives more reason as to why he teams with queen goblin, like she uses his slowly fleeting memories to enact her evil scheme

Thanks for the compliments guys. I tried to make it work but I feel like even this idea falls apart when trying to use Madelyn Pryor (mainly because i have NEVER read a story with her in it and have no idea what happened in that recent New Mutants story they mentioned) so it just feels like I'm stretching to make that work. This story would work better it could just be Peter and Janine trying to find and help Ben as he runs around the city terrorizing people due to temporary insanity (maybe have Punisher trying to kill Ben because he thinks Ben will become a bigger threat if not delt with "the right way"), not him leading a big limbo army on New York for very vague reasons.

Don't break your heads too much or fool yourselves that this Ben Reilly is Spider-Cide, some other generic Spider-Man clone, or Ben Reilly's evil twin. It's the same Ben Reilly from the 90's just a broken and mischaracterized Ben but that's all, look I know the whole Ben Reilly being Chasm thing is traumatizing and affected you guys a lot, but creating theories that have no basis and don't even make almost or any sense won't solve anything.

I feel so bad for whoever has to follow this run after it's finished. I seems like this is going to be an even bigger mess after all is said and done. I don't get it, Marvel's argueably best films (Black Panther 2 and Spider-Man NWH) in the past couple of years and they dump all over them in the comics with cliché and questionable writing. It makes my head hurt man.

Honestly this book has been really downhill since that one arc with Vulture ended. After that it just seemed sloppy from story telling to art. I really don't want to drop this book because I loved the first arc with Tombstone and I loooooved Hellions but man if this is how bad Dark Web is gonna be I think I may tap out. Also remember in that Timeless one shot we saw Ben Reilly web swinging in front of the Hollywood sign, wonder if that still means anything?

This whole thing just feels like a clone saga cross over with the X-men. I hate that this is happening with Ben cuz I loved the stuff they did with him in the Beyond book where he was working on himself and trying to be the best Spider-Man he can be despite Beyond trying to tie his hands multiple times. Chasm should just be a bad phase like when Hal was Parallax.

Yeah... Ive been reading this series from issue 1. But wtf is going on in #14? It seemed like I picked up an issue of a different Spider-Man title. I actually checked after I'd read some of it. Personally, I like that Ben and Janine are shown striking back since it seems like the whole world has duped them. I don't understand why everyone hates this idea, since they've both been thru hell. Everyone's let them down, Janine's been to prison for killing her abusive father, Peter's never been as appreciative to Ben as he should (since he's taken over for him being Spider-Man more than once) so it makes sense that they've just had enough. The idea of them teaming with Goblin Queen was also a stroke of genius, since she's been treated like shit too! The only issue I have is the ending, since it ends on a weak note, but Marvel is definitely not done with this idea. Here's hoping whiny fans won't ruin the whole thing, but I won't hold my breath.

Wtf would Janine run away because bens evil but then she just stabs a dude and broke his leg in half…that’s worse than anything I saw Ben do…until he beats peters lone broker to a pulp and lets a random X-men villain(who I actually love as a character) fuckin kill him just to…hurt jean? Love that we just had an X-men inferno event too and now we’re actually rehashing inferno but just the tie ins.
