I came here trying to understand the mechanism of modern self watering planters of indoor plants. They have a reservoir in the bottom and claim that the plant will suck water whenever you forget watering it. However I don’t know how effective is the mechanism in my case. Very nicely explained though. Sweet girl!

Hello, The explanation you have given about capillary is good. But the demonstration you have shown in the video is not related to capillary action.... The tissue have tendency to absorb the water which shows the phenomenon of absorption.

Yes!! Because of the flame, the candle near the wick melts and the melted wax is drawn up by capillary action
