BRAVO!!! You did a marvelous job solo and not assisted with some gear. I ABSOLUTELY APPLAUD U SIR! I have righting lines but perhaps should incorporate a counter weight bag. 👍👍😁🇺🇸

Thanks for the video. It is a really useful aid for coaching. Just a personal point so not to spend that much time in the water: Flip the boat, attach dry bag, get in boat and bail. With practice this can be done without the dry bag and without the 'wet bail'. I have demonstrated this on several occasions without the dry bag to show that it can be done... This is meant as a constructive comment to help all learn. I hope you find it useful.

Great job, this looked like the most realistic situation, and helpful to see that it isn't just so easy to get back in especially when you can't touch the bottom and cold water conditions. In my case, warm enough water but the gators, sharks, etc. in Florida would encourage me to hustle up. I am just in the process of buying a canoe and trying to learn things in advance such as this. Thank you for taking the time to make this video. I watched another guy using a prusik loop on the end of the canoe to put his foot in and get into the canoe but I suppose whatever works, works.

I love the few little tricks he does calmly first before even wasting energy on the rentry.. I have witnessed people trying to get back on a pontoon boat after exhaustion without success. Panicking. Sobbing. Gret video! Life saving!

Thank you for the video. I have been contemplating between canoe or kayak. I think if I go with a canoe, I will get bigger bucket. Lol. Edit: OMG, you stated this the second I posted my comment.

how much does that canoe weigh? are those boyancy aides in the stems? im having trouble flipping a 63 pound royalex 16 footer...unfortunately we dont really see your technique here...

The water is colder here than in all those US self rescue ponds ;-). The weight of the boat (and the paddler) is a key factor in the success or failure of this entry method, as it's all about the weight of the boat counter balancing the weight of the paddler as they reach and slide across the boat against the centre of buoyancy fulcrum near the tipped edge of the boat. Note the 'wet bag as counter balance!

Great idea using a dry sack full of water as a counterweight... and you definitely need a bigger bailer.

It sounds like Eddy Vedder from the soundtrack for Director Sean Penn's great movie, "Into the Wild."... Very fitting.

@@patrickwallace5711 yes, you’re right. This song’s name is ‘society’ which is in Eddie Vedder’s album ‘into the wild’.

Hypothermia is real! These are the dangers of youtube. The rescue should take 30 seconds of in water time with another minute of in boat bailing instead of losing more body heat to the water. The anchor bag is another waste of time instead of learning proper technique to reenter without an aid.

I agree with not spending that much time in the water but the counter weight is actually a great option for people who can't effectively climb in without it. Not everyone is fully capable as it isn't that easy unless you are pretty fit and or experienced. A paddle float along with added straps attached to the gunnel To slip the paddle under is another great option for those who can't climb in on their own.

Worst procedure ever seen! By far, too long and exausting. Flipping the boat properly simplifies it all.
