If people/the workers aren’t treated like human beings, how can they be expected to act? Having to urinate in a bottle doesn’t sound like a humane solution for what all people must do multiple times a day. We see the lashing out of violence and anger every day. Power for the people.

Violence - two attacks in Sydney Australia last weekend. One looked like a person who could never find a place to belong (whether this should be ticked off as a mental health issue I do not know) and had got to the end of his capacity to continue and sought death by police. Deaths occurred till one young looking police woman did the only thing left. The other attack was the stabbing, by a teenage boy, of the Archbishop of the Assyrian Church, who appears to be a man of saintly forbearance and forgiveness. When the police arrived at the already crowded church they were attacked by a crowd outside. Not doing well for happiness here either.Its hard to tell when so many locked themselves away years ago now and stayed there.

Good topic Harriet. The only counterveiling force that has effectively reigned in power and priviledge and redistributed national wealth among the working class has been through solidarity, organized labor and militant unionization. Our permanent war economy serves the interests of oligarhical predatory capitalism, not democracy. What exploited citizens everywhere are contending with is the concentration of wealth and power in the hands of a few. We can have democracy or the great concentration of wealth in the hands of a few but we can't have both. This international confliagration will require the most massive organizational shift in the struggle between labor and capital since the New Deal, the French or Bolshevic revolution. If the working class can't or won't unite human civilization will be subjected to a boot stomping on our faces in perpetuity.

A house divided cannot stand; a people divided cannot revolt. It's important for US citizens to understand that they do not live in a democracy. If they did, they'd be able to: - Vote _directly_ for a party member of any party that actually represents them (instead for a proxy who can disregard the majority vote) - Be able to choose between a good variety of parties who all have a meaningful chance of making it into the government - Be able to vote at a booth within 5-15 minutes of travel time (where feasible) and cast said vote within 5-15 minutes. - Have a government that's there to represent the will of the people, even the ones who didn't vote for a majority party - Have a meaningful say in politics and economics both - Cast their vote after careful and educated consideration with the future in mind, rather than based on an emotional response to topical issues. - Have ample sources to educate themselves on the political system Note that even the EU lacks in various parts of points the above. This is not an exhaustive list. The very notion of 'democracy' has been bastardized, and people globally - but the US in particular - have become democratically illiterate. This, I believe, will be a key action for any future system that intends to build itself around the intended notion of democracy.

IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT THE US IS DOING BADLY ON SOCIAL AND SUBJECTIVE VALUES FOR 50 YEARS. BUT MORE IMPORTANT IS THAT NATIONS LIKE IRAQ, RUSSIA, SAUDI ARABIA, ARE DOING MUCH BETTER ON THIS SOCIAL SCALE. WHY?????? THESE NATIONS HAVE TURNED AWAY FROM WESTERN CAPITALISM AND HAVE A PRIMITIVE, RELATIVE AUTARKIC, UNPRODUCTIVE ECONOMY, SUBSIDIZED BY EXPORT OF RAW MATERIALS (OFTEN OIL) TO THE INTENSIVE WESTERN ECONOMIES. THIS MEANS THAT THE ATTACK OF THE RICH US ON THESE NATIONS, SEEKING TO CONTROL THEIR ECONOMIES, IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY.

No matter how life sucks in the States, Americans won't resort to communism over capitalism because they don't know what communism is and they can't be bothered to learn. They think at least they have democracy, which triumphs over anything else and is worth sacrificing everything for. Even Prof Wolff's website is called Democracy at work rather than communism at work although Prof Wolff is very critical of capitalism. The point here is this : you can be as critical of capitalism as possible, but criticism of capitalism does not necessarily educate people about communism or provoke any interest in communism. People have a misconception that Scandinavian countries are socialist. No, they are capitalist with no intention to transition to communism. Their political system is geared up for capitalism, only the general public have a bigger share of the national economic outcome. However, political economy is about ownership of production means and then distribution of wealth. We look up to northern Europe at their distribution of wealth, which obviously is fairer and more generous than what we have in America. Yet, capitalism, socialism and communism are forms of political economy rather than just politics or economics. The problem is that we don't talk about political economy as much as politics and economics alone and sub topics like social security and sexual orientation. We need a much clearer vision of communism and no movement will lead us to anywhere unless we have this vision as a guiding star and ideological drive.
@Betweoxwitegan
@Betweoxwitegan 23 күн бұрын
Communism by definition can only come about through a revolution and a revolution is unlikely since the capitalist class disproportionately benefits from keeping the proletariats inline and undereducated in sociology and economics. I also don't blame people for not desiring communism, even myself someone who aligns with Marxist values doesn't necessarily believe communism is the most effective solution, people know that the system is inherently wrong but they don't know why and they don't know how to solve it, therefore we see a divergence amongst political classes, libertarians, social democrats, socialists, communists and conservatives/capitalists. Clearly there must be one optimal economic mode of production and political model but even people who have PHD's in economics and political science disagree on which is optimal.
@jillfryer6699
@jillfryer6699 22 күн бұрын
@@Betweoxwitegan it is unlikely there could be one model of all that to suit all societies and people everywhere. That sort of thinking is what aggravated the people in Eastern Europe and Russia so much and made it so easy to tempt them with the variety and opportunities said to be possible under capitalism, by late 1980s-1990s. The opening of the windows to the West did not have a healthy effect either. I'd like to know how the peoples of the former East and West Germany feel in comparison now. Over the last 20 years Russia, to the bloodthirsty rage of the West, (see Ukraine) has got itself back on track but its not by a reversion to the Soviet era Communism that was before. It should be possible, it should be the definition, for a functioning political economic social system to provide adequate opportunities for homes, health and social growth and opportunities for education and development which you'd think would be to the long term benefit of the system. I'd like to know how Russians rate themselves for happiness, social connections etc.

@@jillfryer6699 I somewhat disagree, I think there is a most efficient economic model which would be standardized and globalised, I don't see why for example communism could work in The USA but not Monaco, assuming communism is the most efficient economic model ofc. Different nations and cultures will react differently to the most efficient model which would decrease its efficiency in the short term and slow its adoption but nevertheless it will prevail.
