Ho cominciato a studiare il Latino anche io, incoraggiato anche dal lavoro fatto dalla persona presente nel video (per la quale sono iscritto). Gli Americani e gli Inglesi sono sempre più appassionati del Latino (compreso il "MATTO" del video che è americano), mentre noi eredi più vicini dei Latini (Francia ed Italia) stiamo cominciando ad abolirlo nelle scuole, o peggio ancora sostituire i numeri latini a quelli arabi nei musei poichè i nostri poveri e dolci turisti col turbante cominciano a non capirli più. Mi accodo in pieno su quello che ha scritto Francesco Cuccuini, dovremmo almeno noi farlo resuscitare il Latino, dato che sono in primis le autorità del nostro paese a tentare in ogni modo di farlo morire.

Il latino che lui parla non è quello utilizzato all'epoca dalla maggioranza delle persone, ma un latino utilizzato da una minoranza, in base alle fonti (parziali) giunte a noi. Senza contare la differenza di pronuncia. Quindi, avrebbero avuto davvero difficoltà a capire quello che dice. Ad ogni modo, apprezzo l'impegno. Ma preferirei che le persone valorizzassero maggiormente i dialetti e soprattutto gli italiani iniziassero ad essere fieri che il principale linguista della lingua inglese (creando migliaia di parole) è un italiano di nome Giovanni Florio.

Io mi sono diplomato al classico, ma andavo male a greco e latino perché non li volevo studiare, avevo una sorta di riluttanza forse anche influenzato da coetanei di altre scuole che mi dicevano che non servivano a nulla, infatti appena dopo il diploma ero contento di non averci a che fare. Qualche mese fa ho scoperto i canali di Luke e ho completamente rivalutato le lingue classiche, e mi sono reso conto di quanto ero "stupido" ai tempi del liceo, tant'è che ora mi sono appassionato talmente tanto grazie ai video di Luke che ho ripreso i miei vecchi libri di grammatica latina e nel tempo libero studio un po' di latino dalle basi con piacere, non tanto per imparare a parlare come Luke ma più che altro per fare ammenda col passato e arricchirmi culturalmente.

Sto d'accordo. Ho imparato il latino quando ero al liceo a New York nel 2010. Ho trovato l'Eneide di Virgilio molto difficile da capire a causa del modo in cui il latino viene comunemente insegnato: prima la grammatica invece del latino colloquiale diretto e semplice. Non appena l'ho scoperto ScorpiōMārtiānus, ho iniziato a imparare il latino attraverso il metodo naturale e adesso riesco a capire la maggior parte degli idiomi comunemente usati e a parlare la lingua in modo più fluente.

Hello, Luke. I've got a Latin-Portuguese textbook from the 1940s. It is a compendium of excerpts of many Latin texts. It's got excerpts from the Bible, Cicero, Publius Syrus, Eutropius, Phaedus, Julius Caesar, Cornelius Nepus and Ovid. I was trying out the Latin Google Translate to see whether the translation and the pronunciation there is good. I tried it out with the sentence of the first text of this book: Deus creavit coelum et terram intra sex dies. I don't speak Latin ( I speak only Portuguese and English ), but the pronunciation of this sentece seems to be correct. I think you should publish a video about the Latin Google Translate, as you have already done similarly with certain games and series, such as the Barbarians and the Loki series. Vale

A process called palatalization. The vowels I and E are pronounced with the tongue forward in the mouth, this has a tendency to cause preceding consonants to shift forward in anticipation of the vowel. Thus CE went from [kɛ] to [cɛ] (a palatal stop, like in modern greek και), and then this palatal stop sound turned into either tʃ as in Italian (like English 'ch') or into [tʲ], like the Russian ть. Then this [tʲ] sound became [ts] in western romance languages.

Btw, our puppy (actually a big scary puppy) goes absolutely bonkers ( ape$%#) when she sees Lupa Capitolina (0:09).
