im 39 years old from New Jerz and when this album dropped it was like WOW this is what hip hop needed!! Fuck all that puffy shit that was going on at the time!! This was some real street hip hop!!! This is a very underrated album in my opinion CNN had there own sound repping queens you can never sau they sound like mobb deep or nas or anybody from QB, CNN had there own style!! And Nore held it down promoting and shows for this album cause capone was doing a bid!! Live on Live long was my crew anthem that track off this album is a fucking classic!! Lefrac city Queens you think of akinyele and CNN holding it down!! And im a str8 old school head i dont listen to none of these corny ass mumbling not making sence wannabe rappers its terrible! I need to hit the big game so i can buy my own radio station and play nothing but classic hip hop and R&B out here in NYC just like they got Q104.3 that plays classic rock, I want my station playing nothing but classic REAL old school hip hop!!!! Anyways great fucking album brings back so many good memories just hanging out in the park smoking mad Ls and drinking E&J and olde E and carrying my radio and my bookbag full of tapes, mixtapes, and extra batteries in that bitch!! #realhiphop

one of the most underrated verses ever...
@illmatic19892
@illmatic19892 2 жыл бұрын
For those who are unaware, This song is a Prodigy diss. Due to Prodigy pulling his original verse off of LA LA (The verse which ended up on Nas's Album "It Was Written" on song "Live Nigga Rap".) Prodigy later commented about this move saying that he felt like his verse was too good to be featured on a CNN song.. So he took it off and used it for Nas's album which obviously would get more attention. Nore obviously felt insulted by this and decided to diss prodigy on this track. Although he never clearly names Prodigy, there are many lines here that are obviously about Prodigy. Most obvious is when he says "The Sixteenth Letter,” which corresponds to the numerical value of the letter “P” in the alphabet. Worth to note that Prodigy and him had some serious issues IRL which also caused Nore (or his associates) to shoot at Prodigy (never connected) and Prodigy noted this in his autobiography "My Infamous Life" years later which pissed Nore off. They ended up being cool after a while mostly due to Nore's and Capone's friendship with Havoc. But Prodigy still never appeared on Nore's Drink Champs although he was asked multiple times (unlike Havoc who appeared solo.) Also Prodigy had issues with Nore's groupmate Capone due to labeling him a Snitch but that's another long story...

Wow. I didn't know that, but I definitely recall hearing Noreaga's verse on Super Thug when he said "you hate the law, nigga break it, I don't care but when you get caught remember that I don't care". It was obviously a response to Havoc's hook on Illegal life. That threw me off because I thought they were all cool. I had no idea all of this other shhhhh was going on behind the scenes besides the contract issues between Tragedy and Nore which was a separate issue. Nore and Prodigy definitely resolved things temporarily because Nore was on Prodigy's album. It was their song that really sparked the beef with Jay Z when Prodigy said "Live in the flesh, my niggas fresh out the bang, when I see you thun, new guns money aint a thing". Before that it was subliminal messages, but things started becoming more direct.

Fun fact this song was originally a diss to mobb deep hence the name and the censored words more says are “sweet p “ fuck with papa get smoked properly and then next censored word is “16th “alphabet which is the letter p . Both p’s refer to prodigy but were censored when they squashed the beef
