Great video! Quick question though, with Positive-Negative staining, does the fact that the positive stain successfully stain the inside of the bacteria mean that the capsule is permeable to the positive dye? or must the bacteria be treated in some way to induce permeability to the positive dye? No treatment necessary, the dye can diffuse through the capsule

Try using another stain..

The capsule is waxy and hydrophobic, so the stain is not well attracted to it. So you can see it by looking for white (unstained) halos around stained bacterial cells.
