I Love this movie . I discovered it when Marvel released the official comic book adaption in 1990, i bought the comic . Went to the local video store the same day and found the movie . I was 10 , great times . Despite its flaws here and there , the movie had a lot of heart , was well cast and well shot . It doesn't come off as campy at all either . It has a really good serious tone through out the whole thing . It looked gritty in some parts too , which is awesome . Also Red Skulls make up was practical and well done . They did try, and cared about the movie they were making and it showed . Sure it could of been better but this was still a good first attempt at a serious Captain America movie . Good stuff . I'm definitely gonna track down the 2 hour directors cut , i'd love to see it . This review was hilarious though . I laughed my ass off .

Sorry, I know this is a 4 year old comment and there isn't much point to answer, but I feel some context is important. For one, Batman had 3 times the budget this one had. I can tell you Brad, that this film was conceived at Cannon with Michael Winner directing and also took the writing choices with a tv British writer Stan Hey, which I have a hard copy of the script and it's bloody awful but the WW2 stuff is really good, but the later parts are just horrid, and I remembered Lawrence J. Block (whose story credit is in the film) wrote a script, not perfect but Red Skull was pretty much good menace tone to the script, and I remembered Marlon Brando was going to be the red skull in Winner's version but Winner admitted not talking to him about the project, and Stephen Tolkin wrote a script for John Stockwell to direct, but it wasn't made until this was made with Tolkin's script. Tolkin recalled his experiences of watching the film where it was not a good experience, and he was comatose after the film was finished where several of his friends had to carry him psychically to a sushi bar and pour Sake down his throat in order to revive him.

First, I just want you to know how relieved I am that you're doing better Brad... Second, loved the review, as always. I missed my weekly Cinema Snob very much... The "1990" Captain America movie looks less like a superhero movie, and more like something a bunch of people made because they were bored and had nothing better to do. Although, Ronny Cox does look like he might have some life to give to this crap. He's always fun to watch... Also, I can't wait for the next Friday the 13th review... Unlikable teenage characters, telekinetic powers, horrible psychologists, and Kane Hodder's first time under the mask... Yahoo! P.S... True story Brad, when I was a kid, in the 90's, me and my Parents would go up to Base for our Grocery shopping. Sometimes we'd stop at this local "Food Mart" just for the hell of it, and they used to have a shelf of all these movies on VHS. My Dad rented it and I watched it. For the time I thought the movie was pretty good. But after watching some reviews, clips, and among others, I can see how cheesy this movie really is. I will say it at least tried to follow the comics very well, for the first half but then it all goes downhill when he gets frozen after his first fight with the Red Skull. Not mention rushing his adventures in WW2 was completely stupid, his early adventures were in WW2. Also they completely butchered the Red Skull by making him an Italian stereotype. And this was before Spider-Man 3 butchered Sandman by making him a wussy struggling Dad with a dying daughter. Seeing movies like this makes me appreciate how far we came when it came to comic book movies. We now have movies like "Iron Man", "The Avengers", "Captain America:The Winter Soldier", "Guardians of the Galaxy", and this year's "Captain America:Civil War". And we got more on the way. Good episode man. :)
