There’s no way Cap wouldn’t have figured out a way to tell him, but all this happened while simultaneously learning that there was an entire TEAM of Buckys ready to overthrow nations out of Russia. He put the world’s safety as a priority, because that’s gotta be the toughest conversation to referee I can think of.

If you drink & drive, crash & kill a family, you get manslaughter. If you just have an accident, because you made a mistake & people died, you get dropped from your insurance after they pay them out. Cap only recently got Bucky to remember everything and start talking a few days ago, and there was potentially 5 more super soldier sleeper agents getting woken up. Any of them could've been the assassin for all that's actually said in the movie. This was literally the first opportunity cap had to tell Tony anything, because it's the first time they stopped aiming weapons at each other since he found out.

Cap learned that hydra killed Tony's parents in the winter soldier movie, Armin Zola shows footages that implies that Bucky was the murderer. That was in 2014, in civil war the scene with Iron man shows that he still thinks his parents died in car accident. Cap didn't tell him that Hydra killed his parents, he hid it from him

ADHDs skip to Tl;dr… In the moment, Tony’s FEELINGS were justifiable, however, not to the point of killing another person, particularly Bucky. On top of that, if he couldn’t get past those feelings to understand (1) a guy, who was presumed dead for 70+ years, was kidnapped, tortured & legit brainwashed cannot be held responsible for the crime AND (2) that Cap might not have known how to tell him about it in the time since he found out (it had been a real crazy FEW DAYS), then I’m revoking his Real One Card. Tony Stark was a great hero. He was also an S-Tier a**hole & responsible for a fair share of tom-f**kery that cost innocent strangers their life. And he wasn’t brainwashed for none of it. Winter Soldier is my absolute favorite (besides the last 2) because the character drama was at an all time high AND they were believable. That fight & the ending w/ Black Panther & Zemo were the realest those characters could have been. Everyone was forced into a corner to be the best they could be in that moment. TL;dr: Tony left Cap & Bucky no choice, because from the moment he said,“ He killed my mom,” it was GGs for Bucky, who stood 0 chance on his own.
