Guardians of the Galaxy was HILARIOUS!! (Reaction)
SO I JUST WATCHED THE GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY (WHICH I HAD THOUGHT I HAD SEEN.... apparently not, gonna call this Iron Man syndrome I think LOL) But it was SO GREAT. I LOOOOVED the way the characters interacted with one another. They were well written, hilarious, excellent writing overall, good plot, good details which intertwine into the MCU main story lore, as well as great action and visuals. I thought it was wonderfully done. I laughed, I cried, I adored the characters and had so much fun watching it. I hope you guys enjoy it with me :' )

At the time, this film was considered a HUGE risk. Nobody in the mainstream knew of this group, and even comic readers like myself weren’t very aware of them unless you sought them out as they didn’t get many shout outs in other books. Marvel Studios even did a 15 minute preview of the jail break sequence to get positive word of mouth buzzing a few weeks before the film opened. The rest is history.

Regarding the second post credits scene, Howard the Duck is an infamous character in Marvel history because in 1980s his film was one of the company’s first attempts at theatrical films for its characters and the film was horrendously bad and is considered one of the worst of all time. So his appearance in the MCU could be taken as a shout out to the Lowest point in Marvel’s history and an indication of how far their films have come

That 'cool ship' is called The Milano, after Alyssa Milano, a crush of Peter's when he was a kid on Earth lol. The Power stone confers upon its wielder nigh invulnerability, exponentially superpowered strength, and the ability to fire pure energy blasts. This is why no normal being can just hold it, it's far too volatile. Groot's species' vocal cords harden over time as they grow older, so that the only words they can speak are "I am Groot", but those who have been with them a while can pick up on the subtle inflections used to determine what they're ACTUALLY saying. Also, Denarian Garthan Saal is known in the comics as Supernova, who contains the power of the entire Nova Corps within him. He flips between being a good and a bad guy, and I'm interested to see if they bring him back for new stuff in the MCU. Howard the Duck is another oooooold Marvel property, there was a film in the 80's about him that you should check out lol

The Collector isn't evil. He's amoral. He just does what he wants. He's an ancient being (like some others I don't want to spoil) that simply decided to have the most unique collection in the universe. That's an oversimplification, but it's him in a nutshell.

The difference is the intent. The Collector's actions are often evil, but his individual actions can also be good. If he helps or hurts, he doesn't care. That is amoral. Evil actively seeks and desires what is wrong and harmful. If The Collector's pursuit of a rare piece saved millions of lives, then he would do it. If his pursuit of a rare piece destroyed millions of lives, then he would do it. He's very much like Hollywood in that regard.
@anothervagabond
@anothervagabond 2 жыл бұрын
@@Scott-ec4cs I disagree with your definition of evil. Being willing to harm innocents in pursuit of your goals is textbook "evil villain" behavior, regardless of what those goals might be. I don't care if it's a 100% necessary step to curing cancer, if you're burning down an occupied orphanage you're evil, period. And even by your own definition the Collector would still be evil, unless you don't think "Kidnap a living sapient being and turn them into an unwilling exhibit." is a "wrong" or "harmful" goal.
@Scott-ec4cs
@Scott-ec4cs 2 жыл бұрын
An amoral person often does evil. Yes, individual actions are evil, but those individual actions don't determine what he'll do going forward. You're confusing an action with an attitude. A moral person commits good deeds. An immoral person commits evil deeds. An amoral doesn't care either way. He can commit good or evil. The actions you are mentioning are evil. But I was explaining the nature of the character based off of his entire history. The Collector is amoral which means that many of his actions,such as enslaving sentient beings, will be evil. Some of his actions, such as negotiating a large amount in good faith and dealing honestly with your client instead of using deception or brute force to get what you want, could be considered good. The Collector has a long history, of which we get a brief glimpse in Guardians, the end credits scene in The Dark World, and Infinity War.

@@mbpoblet Yeah, in 1988 personal cassette players (the technical term for them) were a dime a dozen, but Sony was considered higher quality. That also happened to be about the year I bought my first "Sony Discman" CD player which I still have. (But haven't used in decades.) While advertised as a "portable" music player, it wasn't really equivalent to a personal cassette player. You had to hold it very still, or preferably sit it on a table, to keep it from skipping. However its construction was much better than most cheap cassette players. It just feels like quality, and is actually quite heavy. (Search for "Sony Discman D-90" for pictures.)

V, the duck at the end was Howard the Duck, in 1986, George Lucas from Star Wars made the second or third Marvel movie, after Dr. Strange (1978) and Spiderman (1980), he got a golden ticket from Hollywood after making Star Wars, so he picked the weirdest Marvel character, because he figured that they were going to make movies about the Hulk and the X-men, but probably never about Howard the Duck so he decided to make one himself.

the end credit scene with The Collector featured Howard the Duck and Cosmo (the dog). Howard the Duck was an old Marvel comic title that had one (so bad it was good) movie, that barely touched any of the real source material. Cosmo, the Space Dog. He was part of a USSR space program, and his rocket was discovered by The Collector way back when. IIRC, he was introduced in the 60's.

The ending credit with The Collector, Howard The Duck is a Marvel Character but not as a big character as everyone thinks. It’s just showing a cameo. He is basically like a cult classic character. In regards to Groot, yes he can regenerate however, that Groot dies. This new baby Groot is a reincarnation of Groot.

Bautista as Drax in 2nd GotG movie in a dialogue between him and Mantis delivered one of the most PERFECT lines in Marvel movie history and maybe in all movie history dare I say it. I still maintain that 2014 was when the MCU finally took its apex form between the Winter Soldier and Guardians vol 1 entries. From there to Spider-Man Far from Home (with the exception of Captain Marvel) the MCU went from strength to strength.

The Celestials are kind of like the Titans in World of Warcraft. They didn't necessarily create the universe, but they created an awful lot of the life in it, and they occasionally come back to judge what they created. Xandar is the capital planet of an interstellar empire. It will be partially destroyed to set up the origin story of a superhero named Nova. Although the capital planet gets wrecked, most of the military survives. They decide that rather than rebuild their empire, they instead become the interpol of the galaxy, thus becoming the Marvel version of the Green Lantern Corps. The Collector is one of the oldest beings in the universe. You'll meet his brother in Thor: Ragnarok. He believes that the universe is going to be destroyed and is trying to collect all the things he thinks are worth saving. The dog is Cosmo, a member of the Guardians in the comic books. Remember Laika? The dog the Soviets sent into space? You know how everyone is sad that Laika died? Cosmo is the Marvel version of Laika, except instead of dying in space, he was rescued by an alien who gave him enhanced intelligence and telepathy. Cosmo and Rocket hate each other. The duck is Howard the Duck, a character Marvel uses for self-parody. He's famous for getting into arguments with God.

Second time. You saw Thanos in "Avengers"as the one who was behind the Chitauri attack. Among the Collectors...well, collection are: A Chitauri, a Dark Elf, Cosmo(the dog) and alien slugs from "Slither"(also by James Gunn). HISHE's GOTG parody had Ronan grab on when they were all grabbing the Stone. Quill:"LET GO!" Ronan:"NO WAY!" Rocket:"....NOW WHAT DO WE DO?!!!" Howard the Duck is a real character. He's been a sidekick to the Silver Surfer, in the past.

Enjoyed your reaction to your revisit of this movie. Just for general info: this is not the original Guardians lineup. The dog you see in the Collector's display, is Cosmo the Space Dog. In the comics he's a member an earlier lineup of the Guardians. Yondu was an original member of the team, not the merc ravager you see in the movie. Finally the duck you saw in the end credits, is Howard The Duck. Also from space, & arguably one Marvel's weirdest quirkiest characters.
