Captain Black Original vs. Captain Black Royal / Battle of the Codgers

I just picked up a pouch of Royal and it’s much more mild than original. It’s almost devoid of taste. Gold has more of a chocolate note and taste

My Capt. Black Original needed to be left open and spread out a bit to dry out for a couple days. That improved things all around.

CB Royal is fairly close to 1-Q also by Lane, which is a staple for me. I'll buy CB Royal when I'm on the road. Any of the CB pouches I always open it and loosen up the tobacco and let it dry out a bit before I start smoking it, reduces the mush/moisture factor.

Correct CB Royal and Lane 1Q is near a spot on match. Letting the Lane tobacco 'age' a little will make it even closer.

The first thing I ever smoked (which was only a little over two months ago & I'm in my early thirties) was Captain Black Royal. I find myself enjoying English blends more but I keep going back to Royal. I haven't tried the original yet.

I don't smoke aromatic or codger blends but if I did, I'd take Royal all the way. I once did a 4 way shoot out of the Captain Blacks and Royal came out on top for me. Cheers

So glad you liked it.. I enjoyed making it for you...… I never really liked Capt. Black... I think it had something to do with the price.. here in PA it's just over $9 a pouch in the stores compared to other OTC blends that are $3-$5 for the same size pouch. I'm not terribly against the blends I just think there are better blends out there at the same price point.. really liking this series man looking forward to next week's episode.. have a good one.

i like the captain black tobacco but I feel its overpriced as an OTC cellophane bag blend. $9 for cap black. $4.50 for Half&Half. $3.75 for Backwoods. I think thats Excessive pricing for Under 2oz of tobacco
