@@loveylace4541we don’t know how long Pike was in command of Enterprise at this point or what happened in its mission till then but it sat out the war and he said they were on deep exploration with orders not to return if star fleet lost. While close quarters for a while does make a group close the life and death nature of his time with discovery is a very different level of bonding. Think of going to the office everyday, you make friends, some closer than others but compared to being with people who saved your life and whose lives you saved. Living together through a very chaotic event makes much deeper bonds than just a regular crew doing very normal events.

A few some-what good episodes don't make a series. Star Trek: Discovery was a diversity, woke garbage show. With a political agenda so out of mainstream it lost huge number of viewers with each passing episode. It lasted 5 seasons only because CBS refused to cancel a failed show as it didn't want to prove yet again; Go Woke, Go Broke. What they did to Klingons alone made this show inexcusable trash. (and I'm just using family friendly language for how bad this all was)

For those who take it for granted: I hope you someday understand why a character like Michael Burnham is so important to us black female sci-fi geeks. We've watched other people shine all our lives and enjoyed them, but for us to have someone we can see directly into is a special gift. Never would have thought I'd see the day when there'd be a character like her. It truly does bring tears to my eyes. This is still my favorite episode, as it has some of my favorite scenes in the whole series. My favorite relationship in the series is one I never would have expected to have been in the first place: Michael and Spock. It’s lockstep purists like YOU who are so trapped in the 1990s that to you anything after DS9 and Voyager do not exist and that mindset will kill ALL STAR TREK FOREVER, not just the type you hate. You do have the right to not like something but Star Trek is supposed to be about optimism no matter how bad thing might seem, about celebrating our differences and working together in peace for a better life. How ironic then that you hypocritically reject everything Star Trek stands for by casting hate upon anyone and anything you disagree with

The issue was the Sphere data couldn't be removed from the ship and they ethically wanted to avoid destroying it because it was sentient. As long as the data remained in the past, the potential future would still exist and could continue to send agents back in time to insure a version of Control got the data. Moving the ship to the future instantly cut off the future timeline and insuring 23rd century Control was destroyed was extra insurance.

Can anyone tell me how the ending makes sense? Why does going into the future save the data from control? Control is an AI so it won't die and still exist in the future so how does it make sense to say "let's go into the future where we are save from control."??
@CarlosHuiskens
@CarlosHuiskens 3 жыл бұрын
Because control needed to have the data to evolve in the first place. Its evolution and eventual dominance is achieved by having the Sphere Data. So by transporting that data into the future it couldn't evolve and therefore it could easily be neutralized. Without the data control is simply a AI without any real self awareness. @@CarlosHuiskens I haven't watched the show so I expect that's why I'm confused. Was there some limitation possessed by Control that explained why this would work? Some MacGuffin about Control withering away very quickly without the data or being unable to replicate itself into other systems and simply transfer itself around and wait in hiding? Control is an AI which knew it needed the Sphere Data and it also knew about the Red Angel and knew what the plan was, correct?
@CarlosHuiskens
@CarlosHuiskens 3 жыл бұрын
@@rebaav I believe that Control primarily uploaded itself to Leland's dead body when the A.I reanimated him with nanites that contained itself. And because the spore drive module was magnetized they were able to neutralize Control to such an extend that it wasn't able to control the fleet anymore. Also the reason why it wanted and knew about the sphere data is presented in episode 7 of season 2. In that episode Luitenant Commander Airiam is corrupted by an entity from the 28th century specially to collect data in Artificial intelligence. Now while not directly confirmed i believe that this entity was a fully evolved Control from a future in which it achieved getting the Sphere Data which resulted in the total loss of life ( depicted in Spock's visions ) So in order to basically advert that future they took the Sphere data to the future so that the neutralized A.I in the present couldn't evolve beyond its basic nature. Without the Sphere data Control was still just an A.I that could be defeated. As mentioned by Michael's mom the future she visited was devoid of any life. So i truly thing that A version of Control from the future tried to ensure its own evolution but ultimately failed.

I can make that criticism of anything. "A ring that turns you invisible? Really? Writers have become idiots in this age." "A space station that can destroy planets? Really? Writers have become idiots in this age." "A ship that explores space? Really? Writers have become idiots in this age." Even if it seems like it's stupid from the outside, but if you actually watched Lord of the Rings, or Star Wars, or Star Trek The Next Generation, it makes sense because that's what the show is. Maybe watch the show and tell me what you didn't like about the Red Angel. I don't think it was perfect, but it certainly wasn't written by idiots.

I'm surprised by the positive comments I've just watched the final episode of Season 2 and couldn't believe how bad it was. The effects were amazing but the story was a complete mess with so many stolen ideas and script constructs. It also had no flow or explanation of what was happening. When the klingons turned up with the other race it felt completely wrong to me. I shall continue watching Star Trek Discovery but have to say this for me is the second worst Star Trek series after Deep space Nine. It was by far the worse episode of Discovery I have seen. The only good thing was the way it ended did want me to continue watching as I wanted to see what happens next but I'm just not happy with the entertainment value of the episode itself.

Disco is okey. Probably this season 2 is the best by far of any star trek. While it does not have that “nostalgic” star trek feels, i welcomed it with open mind. Nevetheless, i still rank still rank disco 2nd, tied with tos as tng and voyager tied for my 1st. Never saw ds9 and enterprise yet. Will have to do a marathon on those on netflix soon.

It wasn't cancelled. It did so well it singlehandedly propped up the entire streaming service and relaunched the franchise. The new ST shows are very expensive and only two full series can be in production at once. Getting five seasons in the modern streaming environment is an expected run for one show.

Man... what a boring TV series... Every 5 minutes you got somebody weeping or discussing philosophy... in the middle of a f-ing battle for the future of all life in the galaxy... The whole story could be put together in a two part pure sci-fi episode, but they had to spread it through the whole season, soap opera style... What a disrespect to the fans... (and all that gay is beautiful/fat is beautiful/ugly is beautiful stuff... unnecessary)
