According to the "Queen Emereldas" OAV, the Arcadia is based off of the remains of the Space Cruiser Yamato found by Tetsuro. He claimed "The original crew of this ship only knew how to draw 10% of the engine's full potential". At the end of the OAV, " DNA Sights 9999", the heroes encounter both the Arcadia & the Yamato.

In the first EP there's indeed Yamato (fully repaired, maybe 'Great Yamato' which itself a successor of original Yamato) docked inside Tochiro's base, alongside with Arcadia and Queen Emeraldas and the other Deathshadow. And did Arcadia main guns Wave Motion Guns that has better ROF? Arcadia's main guns are much stronger than Yamato's shock cannons.
