And just like that, the chapter is closing on this commercial airline pilot’s adventurous and rewarding career.
Captain Michael Law began flying 48 years ago. The last 36 commercially with Piedmont and concluded with American Airlines. 10 million plus miles and 30,000 flying hours later, it’s time to say farewell. It was a good run.
This video captures his final flight from LA to his home base in Charlotte, NC with the traditional Water Cannon Salute honoring his career. You can hear the tears in his voice (and in my heart for him), as he made the announcement.
I am in awe of his steadfast commitment to safety, service, and relentless attention to detail. Everything you want your pilot to be. His training in the Air Force and professionally along with his innate humbleness and compassion for others has made Michael not only a celebrated team player but a natural leader among coworkers, family, friends and at home. No doubt, new adventures await as we settle into a new normal. Today I celebrate my man, my hero and my best friend. Thank you to all those that sacrificed to be with him and those that wanted to physically but could not. Your presence was felt, nevertheless🤗. A big thank you to our friend and magician, Colleen Fields for such a FESTIVE WELCOMING RECEPTION for Michael! 🥳 And to the Chief Pilot, T.J. Johnson’s Administrative Office and staff, we are so grateful for your assistance in pulling this celebration off logistically. 🎉✈️🥳 👏🏽
Thank you for the wonderful memories!
