They're all gone now. Bud Tingwell/ capt. Brown, Ed Bishop (who went on to play Straker in UFO)/ capt. Blue and Francis Mathews/ capt. Scarlet. Interestingly Mathews got the part because he could do a decent Cary Grant impression, they also made Scarlet appear similar to Grant.

I love the grimacing head sculpt, used only here. 1967 (I remember it well) where pride in a job well done, and money were not problems. Captain Scarlet was possibly my first obsession, aged four, and mind blown. It's still awesome, even now. Yes, it was violent, but the next show upped that. Just watch the Joe 90 episodes 'Hijacked'; 'Three's A Crowd', and 'Breakout', to see just how kid friendly those are. Oh, us kids at the time? We loved the shows. Did me no harm whatsoever.

​@@kylethedalek - It's a damn good episode - but just think about this: Joe, who doesn't like Angela Davis - his gut tells him something is wrong about her, takes her brain patterns, which obviously contain the memories. Now here's where it gets real dark if you think about it. Angela Davis (if indeed that is her real name), is a female spy, engaged on what we would now call a 'honey trap' mission. Besides what we know Joe accesses, what other dark and possibly 'not suitable for children' images, thoughts and ideas might be lurking in dark corners of Ms. Davis' psyche? I only thought about this a few years ago, and it creeped me out a bit. Oh, and don't forget, the episode starts with someone being executed by firing squad. Your everyday cosy kids' TV show, it most definitely was not. And that's a good thing.

The problems I think stem from the fact Scarlet was originally intended to be a robot. And there was a significant amount of retconning and inconsistances in regards to retrometabolism throughout the show. Best guess is that he suffered enough head trauma in the fall that amnesia broke the Mysteron programming, since he later only recalls what happened up to the crash.

Probably the darkest of the marionette programs aired. Lots of gore and death for kids to watch, undeniably. Really enjoyed it back in the day. Still think it's rather wonderful. Just waiting for the moralists of our current time to ban this as it gives Mysterons a bad name.

Well the Mysterons did come from an ethnic minority - and what did the Mars probe do? Destroy them despite the fact they had gone to the trouble of learning our language in order to integrate. By 2067 society must have got rid of diversity and inclusion advisors.

One episode Capt Scarlet disobeyed orders but saved Colonel White's life but was killed. As Scarlet lay there dead, White was yelling at him saying how a court marshall might be conveyed. A man at the scene said to White "Sir I don't think you realize the man you're yelling at is dead".

Dumb question probably but which captain scarlet is the indestructible one? The one in the car crash or the one that fell from the car park or is there 2 captain scarlets and nobody noticed lol Also I don’t think that the mysterons were very good and shooting as at the opening every week they shot at captain scarlet with a machine gun? And missed but it only took captain scarlet one shot 😊 Captain scarlet will always be my favourite

They never found Scarlet's body at the car crash. So he was under control by the mysterons just like Captain Black

The one in the car crash was human and died at the scene.. the one in this video is a Mysteron reconstruction and it’s my conjecture that as they hadn’t made many of them they made him a bit too sturdy.. like many of those shows back then, things don’t seem to be explained in that much detail but it seems that Scarlet clone losing his memory and becoming autonomous maybe have been some kind of lucky glitch that the Mysterons did not repeat.. only other mistake they make is when the made a clone of a person they failed to kill, as he was medically dead at the scene but brought back to life by resuscitation. So there was two of the same person walking around for a bit 😂😂

The car crash is when the Mysterons reconstructed Captains Scarlet and Brown. So this Captain Scarlet who was shot and fell off the Carview was indestructible.

A lot of people rubbished the CGI remake when it came out, but looking back at it now it's genuinely almost as good as the original. Treats its characters as people instead of just 2-dimensional emotionless characters for a start!

@@zypalitra8080 Agree. I appreciate the original show but feel like they did a better job fleshing out the cast in the CGI remake. Characters like Lt. Green and Destiny Angel were given actual agency and felt like living people, plus the better developed "frienemy turned close comrades" relationship between Scarlet and Blue made their team ups better. One thing I enjoy equally about both series is just how brutal the Mysterions were. There was zero ambiguity there about whether they were good or bad because good god some of those deaths lol

I didn't like it to be honest. They messed about with too many of the characters. Literally the only character who felt true to their source material was Colonel White. Even the Mysterons had a total change of agenda.

Most definitely. I was once unfortunate enough, when I worked as a security guard, to witness someone committing suicide from a high bridge. As he fell, the wind caught him, and, instead of landing in the waters of the estuary, he hit the base of the bridge pier, which was covered in angled concrete 'tidebreakers'. The result was appalling. The next day, as it was far too windy to go out the same day, a dock work pontoon went out. On board were three Boatmen, a Doctor, a Policeman, and a couple of Firemen. And a steam cleaner. The Doctor had to declare the person dead, the two poor Firemen had the lovely job of collecting the bits, under the Policeman and Doctor's guidance. The Boatmen then had to steamclean the base of the pier, and about ten feet up it. There was still a mark on it until a few years ago. Boxing Day, in the late 1990's, he jumped, and from about 120 feet. The 'London Car-Vue' is about six times taller than that. Captain Scarlet would have been spread over quite a wide area, though some of him would have made a crater. Hope this helps.
