Fun fact: Hanover Fist’s voice actor is Rodger Bumpass, who years later would be the voice of Squidward in SpongeBob SquarePants.

It's a classic as the box office success of this movie, Fritz the Cat, Watership Down and Roger Rabbit help opened the doors to adult cartoons like The Simpsons, Duckman, MTV animation, Spawn TAS, Batman Mask of the Phantasm etc and help import adult animation from Japan like Akira to Ninja Scroll to come the USA

@grownconch1327 Yeah but a lot of the times they try to get you to admit to being guilty even when you are 100 percent innocent to whatever crime they are trying to get you for. Which will put a record on you that will follow you long after you getting out of jail.
@Sweld549

@@LordDiscord If you're "guiltier than a cat in a gold fish bowl" then it's in your best interests to just plead guilty and take the lighter sentence. Pleading innocent opens you up to receiving a harsher sentence if you lose, which is obviously a bad idea if you're very clearly in the wrong guilty and unlikely to win the case because of it.
@LordDiscord
@LordDiscord 2 ай бұрын
@@Sweld549 That only really applies if they actually have concrete and indisputable evidence that you did it. Given the confidence of the captain and the fact that testimony of one person would have been enough to atone him of his crimes, means the court likely only had speculative evidence at best and was hoping for a confession. Also most plea deals are usually done behind closed doors unless the persons crimes are not that severe, given the juries and audiences reaction, tells mean any sentence that wasn't him being immediately executed before the audience would not have been acceptable, meaning his best case would to plead not guilty

This scene's animation is great but it's a really weird idea. The orb is supposed to be pure evil but it disrupts a false testimony paid for with bribe money by a clearly evil guy.
@molemanninethousand
@molemanninethousand 3 ай бұрын
In the original version of the story, Sternn's plan was always for Hanover to go berserk like that, only to stop attacking him when they got away from everyone else, i.e. the attack was staged to disrupt the trial and let him escape, and that was what he was really paying Hanover for; he also doesn't kill Hanover in that version. This version indeed made the scenario more confusingly ambiguous for the sake of shoehorning in the main villain of the movie.
@Sweld549
@Sweld549 2 ай бұрын
The angle wasn't the false testimony, it was the rampage disrupting the trial and allowing him to escape during the chaos. The bribe money he mentioned is the same amount he pays out in the last scene, which implies that was always the plan. Doesn't explain why he waits to vent the other guy out of an airlock until AFTER handing over the 35k though.
@fitzclaircharron3502
@fitzclaircharron3502 2 ай бұрын
@@Sweld549 So if the guy was gonna go berserk anyway, then the orb didn't matter, so why would they show us this entire thing? The orb is irrelevent here. Nah, the angle is he has a guy he bribed tell everyone he's a stand up guy. The orb disrupted the trial, and the captain distracted him with the money because he had nowhere else to run. It actually worked and the guy shrank. Otherwise why is the captain like "lost 'im"? Why does he look worried? It's just a weirdly written scene that shoulda had another draft is all.
@Sweld549

@@fitzclaircharron3502 Presumably because they wanted to fake-out the viewer and end on a twist, and didn't care about the fact it doesn't make much sense when you think about it for more than two seconds. Heavy Metal in general is just a bunch of loosely associated shorts more concerned with being raunchy than having a coherent framing plot. I wouldn't exactly hold the film to conventional standards, all things considered.

So like…his whole defense was one guy…just some guy…saying that he was a nice person? Like fist is not a well regarded person, or important or anything. He’s just a dude. Why does anybody care what he has to say? He could have *not* suddenly mutated into a brute and stern still probably would have been run up the river.
@molemanninethousand
@molemanninethousand 2 ай бұрын
He *wanted* him to mutate and attack him like that; that *was* his plan to escape the trial. Fiste didn't really want to kill Sternn; the attack was staged. At least, that was what was clearly going on in the original comic; the way the movie incorporates the Loc-Nar here, portraying it as the source of Fiste's mutation, and having Sternn drop him into space at the end as if something actually went wrong according to his plan, which didn't happen in the comic, makes things confusingly ambiguous for this version.

George Washington was no joke,... there were full assault insurrections occurring, during his entire childhood, while growing up. So when it came to going in,... To battle against the Dirty Cops, who were the Black Moors and their clients, who were the child trafficking and smuggling rings, at the time.... George Washington was with the only Military Battalion, that road out like Essays set tripping, instead of sending one horse negotiators. There wasn't a Marines at the time,. . but if there was,.... They would have been it It was towards the end of the day. The ones that George Washington's Battalion Came to assault, were already dead... The men wearied on in Battle,... Bayonet fightin, trying to stuff another round in,... Guns soundin,. .. rifle butt poundin,... How then, was he supposed to make it home? He lived in the direction, everything was going own! You should know em, .. he not gonna back down, it's snowin.... Other top dogs, already left, before the storm. George Washington got caught up helpin a Mormon,... his kid just got slayed and he was begging God for em'. Like Lightning!,... He dashed on his horse, after raising up,... his front legs, shadow boxed, before he made it run!,... "Charging through a hail of bullets, " said a native Son. "He crossed our line of fire,.. bullets flyin, looking giant,... must have gotten riddled by the open fire, dyin!" The next day, he saw him again, he showed him iron,.. that he found up in his pocket,.. somehow it catches it,.. and not a wound, then he sparked it.... A fat ass Spliff yaw,... and passed it,... to the Native Son, who was indeed de jur and an earlier Incarnation of the Leader of the Latin Kings and the 10th St Rock Steady Crew, of My Home Town, Ruff Buff, way up, in New York State. Standing in a B Boy Stance yaw,... There I was, just having turned 12 years old,.... I had My wind breaker, hat broke to the side wit Presto graffitied on the bill flipped up,... The extra fat shoe laces, in My all white Concept Ones, kicks. With My cousin, who grew up, as My brother, in a B Boy Freeze Stance, right on My left side.... My big brothers of the Crew, were like silhouettes behind Me,.. The bass was bumping, the kids were looking and I had no idea, that Mark and Sam Green, were putting on a show behind us, by blowin weed smoke like Shaman, all over on us, as we posed!,... So the crowd, was going crazy over it! Then, the Greens made the blunt disappear, while they was Ticking. It was a Break Dance Battle yaw! We were the MC Breakers and our friendly competition was none other than the 10th Street Rock Steady Crew! The Puerto Ricans of the lower West Side of the Below (Buffalo, New York. I grew up around these Essays,... they heard about our mega Performance at Klienhaans Music Hall and arranged with the Beecher's Boys Club a Break Dance night, with us, as their guests. That's where I met the dude, that later would leave town, Became!, a De Jure Sovereign Quartermaine Lord of Chicago, which was his area... How was he supposed to know. At one time, there was Communication about what a Sovereign is supposed to do. The wicked found a way to redirect the Conversation away from the Descended One. So he ended up in California and his folks around him, had to set trip a few times,... So they organized their squad and he was unanimously chosen to be the leader of the Regional Crew. Somebody was in the Know about him being a Quartermaine for Chicago, but got Hit up by the few, that was keeping the Secret, before he could advise him to return back. So the Judge wouldn't let him get out of jail, when he finally got caught up, because he swore that he was a Quartermaine of Cali, instead of Chicago. He is best known as, the Leader of The Infamous,.... Latin Kings!
