CAPTAIN Z-RO. Magellan Episode. 1950's Time Travel / Science Fiction TV Program

When I had the video business this was always one of our biggest sellers. This show set the television prototype for later programs such as The Time Tunnel and the early William Hartnell, Dr. Who series. Every week Captain Z-Ro and his assistant Jet would observe world events and travel through time to help historical figures. The entire series of Captain Z-Ro fell into the public domain in 1978 due to lack of copyright renewal. Check our listings for other episodes.

This could be an early undocumented incarnation of The Doctor. Even his control panel looks basically like the TARDIS. But with that goatee he's probably The Master. Thanks for posting this!

Wonderful! Dr. Who was originally intended to be an educational program about history for TV... just what this one is.... This one predates Dr. Who and is obviously one of its inspirations, along with Mr. Wizard and a few others...

I didn't know this show, but it reminded me on one of the stories of Quantum Leap and I think I guess right, that this is the show they were showing there

I can see how this was exciting and engrossing in the mid 50's and also one off the building blocks for shows to come etc.

Hi.I had heard that the people who did Dr. Who and some of the early British sci-fi were "inspired" to a degree but who can really say. I don't know if it was ever packaged and transmitted outside North America. I'm guessing yes.Happy ViewingBill
