The first "1000 kills" badge that I got was the flyfish badge, and I think that really says all it needs to about freelance. If a flyfish pops up, you have to be the one to try and take it out, because wow 80% of the time, no one else will ever bother.

Extra tip, if you’re alone and you find yourself in front of a Fly Fish and need to, no *must* , take it down, target the red one, the basket on the right, first. The one on the left (blue) targets a random player and the one on the right (red) targets the closet player to it, which, is going to be you. By targeting the one on the right first, this allows you to regenerate ink to throw a second bomb without having to do gymnastics avoiding missiles.

Only annoying part is the angle in shooting it often collides with something else and the shot doesn't count a single shot. I've tried it multiple times and I just decided that it wasn't consistent enough to use it.

ADDITIONAL (advanced) TIPS You can one shot the flyfish with one bomb if you roll it nearby it at a ledge at even height, but this is only if A: the flyfish is facing the ledge B: the bomb is close enough C: the baskets are open You may want to practice rolling your bombs for more consistency. Also, you can take it out in one shot if you aim at the bottom middle of the lids as they open, not into the baskets themselves. Marked with the periods. | | | | | ..| | | Bear in mind, this only works generously with explosher shots, crab tank shots, Missile shots, and inkjet shots egg throws are risky to use in this tactic it’s possible, but it is not recommended as you could potentially miss and waste an egg better suited for taking out a basket reliably.

Some additional anti-flyfish information: -while it is true that flyfish baskets have different targeting, this only applies per cycle. If you destroy one basket and leave the other, regardless of which one you left alive, the remaining basket will always target the closest player on the next cycle. Which basket you destroy only matters if you can do so before the missiles are fired for that cycle. -both killer wail 5.1 and triple inkstrike follow the rule of threes. Wail has six beams, but they lock on two at a time to make three sets of two. One set of killer wails or one inkstrike is enough to destroy a flyfish, meaning one activation of either of these can bring down three flyfish (and/or stingers). Just keep in mind that a single pair of killer wails can fail to destroy a flyfish if it’s on the move. -I’ve heard some players claim that it’s possible to run over a flyfish directly with a reefslider. Can’t confirm whether or not this is true myself, though. -and finally, the advanced flyfish one-shot techniques. There are a few of these and you’ve probably seen other comments mentioning them if you didn’t already know about them. In general, firing an explosive at the bottom center of the open baskets can destroy both at once. The easiest method is with the low tide cannons (bonus: these can also one shot fish sticks before they deploy). You can also do this with inkjet and crab tank quite reliably, and it’s possible with a lot more precision using explosher and the egg cannon. It’s also possible to do this by preemptively detonating a bomb. This can be done by rolling the bomb to detonate on a ledge at the same height as the open baskets, which is most commonly possible on the grated walkways on spawning grounds. It can even be done off of a slammin’ lid if you’re lucky enough to have them line up. You can also cause a bomb to detonate midair by throwing it against a steel eel or slammin’ lid barrier. And, if you’re *really* cool, you can work with a downed teammate to destroy a flyfish by detonating a bomb on their midair life ring. This is not practical or recommended in any realistic setting. It’s badass, though.

Quite reliably? Dude they move constantly and sometimes the shot backfires due to the hitbox. If you mean hugging them super close, then maybe. I've probably done hundreds of runs and that one shot strategy with Inkjet feels off at times. I know I'm aiming my shots, but something magically gets caught and it doesn't count the other basket's destruction.

I would like to point out that Killer Whale is very effective at taking out multiple bosses at once, or at least damaging multiple bosses at once; you just aim the whale at one boss and once it’s locked and that boss, you turn in multiple directions to spread the whale out. When properly used, the Whale is actually one of the best specials in the SR. Also, if you ever notice tons of Fly Fish bins, that means someone one your team has INK JET… USE IT TO TAKE OUT THE FLY FISH. Thanks for the video! :)

3:38 not sure if anyone has pointed this out already, but 1 egg can actually destroy both buckets at the same time if you aim it right in the middle. it will connect with both at the same time and destroy the whole flyfish. (this also works with explosher globs, inkjet shots and crab tank globs.) another side note is since the patch that sped up its tracking, you only need 1 killer wail target to kill a flyfish, meaning you can kill multiple flyfish or stingers from across the map with one wail!

These guys break the rules that every other Salmonid established, which is that they have a strength and a weakness, that other salmonids are supposed to cover, for example: Steelheads require you to target slightly upwards, but Maws punish you for not paying attention to your surroundings. Max of 3 of the same boss can spawn at the same time, not 4. The reason why you’d only want 3 crippled flyfish instead is so that you’d get more lurable bosses. Also after the 28 second mark feel free to kill any flyfish without worry of more spawning.

Kinda touched on in the video, but the red cooler on the flyfish (right as you face it) locks onto the closest player, while the blue cooler (left as you face it) locks onto a random player. if taking out a flyfish solo, it's better to aim for the right (red) cooler first so you can throw the second bomb into the other cooler without having to worry about missiles.

Bonus tip; probably the best way of solo dealing with/leaving flyfish is to break the right basket (the red one) which targets multiple people, it makes it much more manageable for the team while you or your team can go back for it later when theres less enemies or you got your quota. Also if you have egg cannons or crab tank, you can aim in the middle of the baskets to break both of them at once (it's a bit techy)

I'm sure someone else here commented this, but you can actually kill a flyfish with only 1 shot with explosher, inkjet, crab tank, cohozuna gold egg, and cannon. You have to aim just in between the the launchers toward the covers of the launcher (so the top center of the flyfish when it's open.) This is SUPER helpful, especially during cohozuna waves!

Flyfishes should just be nerfed, at least somewhat. I get the fact that the dev's wanted to throw in a unique and challenging boss to have players disperse from one part of the map to another (which makes this boss interesting in my opinion), but it doesn't help that these things just keep spamming missiles at you, even when you and everyone else helps you take it down. And god h e l p you if your team gets swarmed by lesser salmonids and steel eels AFTER having killed said flyfish.

one thing i found out a few days ago is that if a flyfish is right next to a slammin' lid, throwing a bomb at the lid's shield will detonate the bomb instantly, and the proximity will still destroy the basket, this means you don't have to wait for the bomb to explode, possibly cancelling the tentamissles

As you run around the Egg Basket with your buddy, trying to avoid a Steel Eel after each of you, a Scrapper chasing you down, and a Steelhead just coming up the hill lobbing bombs at you; your Teammate off in the corner is spamming "Help!" as they went too far and got overwhelmed; and suddenly a Drizzler makes it rain and a Stinger is trying to pick off your buddy. You just manage to take out the Steel Eel on him and he then takes out the Scrapper, but all of a sudden four missal volleys start to rain down on the two of you and just as you get out of the way, you go down to a Big Shot that decided to join the fun... The life of a Profreshinal in never easy...

Oh boy new specials!!! Kraken can jump into the flyfish pilot for a 2-shot or charge into the pilot at an equal height for a 1-shot, and Triple Splashdown can destroy flyfish as long as the baskets are open, even if it only in range of one fist or isn’t even facing you

Funny thing but by complete luck I found out that by splatting a steel head next to a fly fish while open, the explosion can take out one or both baskets. It is just as situational as using the torpedo of a drizzled to take a basket out, but it is a way

BONUS TIP: The Cannon, Egg Cannon, Crab Glob, Explosher and Inkjet *_can_* insta kill Flyfish if you hit between the baskets, the best place to aim is between the open lids slightly above the cockpit. I find this easiest to do with an elevated Inkjet, and hardest (not to mention most wasteful in my opinion) is the egg cannon. This does take some practice, but the spot is the same regardless of the weapon, and if your aim is off you can still destroy at least one basket. Also, not a tip, but I hate when the game randomly decides your bomb bounces out of the basket instead of staying in. Makes these flying hellspawn even harder to splat.

More tips: all th bomb specials explosher, and eggs, you ca actually one shot it if u aim at the middle of the basket betwee its small gap, instant kill. Also if youre taking care of them solo, prioritize blue basket first. Itll make dodging missiles easier for everyone, no matter how many spawn.
